      Tony,
Did you send out the Paypal invoices yet? I haven't received it yet but I did get the email saying I was one of the ones selected.

I'm really looking forward to getting a hold of the new board, lots of plans for it.

For anyone that's interested, I've designed an enclosure that will take the Duet Wifi plus Duex expansion board and put it on Thingiverse. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1859048

It takes the two boards but with them mounted one above the other, as if they were mounted back to back and joined at the Vin connector but then opened out like a book. It takes two 80mm fans internally to blow air on to the back of the boards and exhaust through slots top and bottom. I included the OpenScad file so feel free to play around with it. Warning - it's 290mm x 140mm so you'll need a biggish build plate.

Edit. If you mount the boards this way, you might need a longer ribbon cable and with a twist in it.

            Looks really neat!

How is the airflow if the fans suck air through? I find less turbulence and the temps in the enclosure lower.

The fans suck from the back of the enclosure and blow onto the underside of the boards, then the hot air exhausts through the slots in the top and bottom of the enclosure (if you fit the fans the right way round that is). I fit fine mesh grills on the fans to keep the dust out. For info, I stuck a thermistor onto one of the XY stepper chips and created a dummy tool so that I could monitor the temperature on DWC. I've set the fans to thermostatic mode and have the temperature set to 45deg C. At idle, with steppers at low holding torque, the drivers run at about 39 deg C on my printer so the fans are off. When it starts to print, the temperature goes up to 45 but never more than a fraction of a degree above this as the fans do their job. I believe DC42 is likely to add an update to the firmware at some point in the future which will mean that the thermistor isn't necessary.

Ok great. I printed this enclosure off overnight!

Just added another pic to Thingiverse that shows the fans mounted in the enclosure.

I'm just a tad concerned that I haven't left enough room between the 2 boards which might make it a bit awkward to connect Vin to both. There won't be enough room to use ferrules on the wires for both boards that's for sure. I'm planning on using a solid conductor between the boards so I reckon it'll be OK but won't know for sure until I get my paws on a Duex5. There is room in the outer part of the case to move the Duex down a bit if necessary so the overall size wont need changing, nor will the lid.

UPDATE 5: We have received all the prototype boards from the manufacturer, built the test rig, and managed to get the first few tested today 😄

The first boards will be dispatched Monday, with the remainder following on Tuesday (less any that fail testing which need to be reworked). You will receive a notification by email once your board has been dispatched on Monday or Tuesday.

After doing a minor rework on all the boards we have dispatched nearly all of them today, the remainder will go tomorrow.

I have contacted a few of you individually already to explain we are fixing an error on your boards and will let you know by email when yours are dispatched.

I guess all at T3P3 must be thinking that no news is good news but in case not, I just thought I'd report in to say that all is well with my shiny new Duex5. It's only running a third extruder, a fan and some LED lights at the moment but no probs at all. I added a couple of pics to my case design on Thingiverse that shows it fitted and wired up next the Duet WiFi http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1859048.

Many thanks. Great product, great service as always.

Being in the US it is probably taking longer to arrive. But I have a new delta printer with a Pyramid 3-in 1-out mixing hot end ready to go with the new expanded drivers.

I've not heard of the Pyramid hot end and a quick Google search didn't turn up anything. Is it anything like the Diamond 3 in 1 out that I'm using?

The one I ordered was. :). Given that the board is designed to go back to back with the Duet, I guessed that the "standard" ribbon cable might be a bit short because it has to have a twist and the connectors are no longer opposite each other. I don't know for sure if the "standard" cable would be too short as I asked for a 300mm long cable when I ordered the Duex5 (the additional cost was very reasonable I might add). I can say that 300mm is a bit too long - I'd guess 200mm or maybe a bit shorter still might be OK.

I use as similar side-by-side configuration in my bench test setup. A 180mm cable is just about long enough.

Yes you can get the parts from RS, Farnell, Rapid etc. The ribbon cable is standard 0.127mm pitch 28awg 50 way and the connectors are standard 2x25 way 2.54mm pitch IDC sockets.
