@doctrucker the Duet seems unable to read any microSD cards presently.

Have replaced the microSD socket; the problem persists. 🤔

If the Duet used to be able to read SD cards, then sadly the most likely reason it won't now is that one of the microcontroller interface pins is no longer working. It's possible to replace the microcontroller, but not easy. I wrote off the first two Duets that I tried to replace the microcontroller on, by lifting PCB traces. The 3rd and 4th I did successfully.

@dc42 I'm not sure it's ever read uSD cards since I've had it

Hopefully this morning's soldering is still viable ![endoscope view of Duet SD socket](Endoscope camera shot of replaced socket)

Was it offered for sale in "known to be fully working" state?

@dc42 if M122 reports that the board has reset itself via software and/or that the MCU temperature is around/above 100°C the Duet is in a bad way?

You may want to run this procedure to calibrate the CPU temp, since it could be up to 45c off on the older boards. Even so, that would seem high to me.

How warm does the MCU feel? It should be no more than slightly warm.

@dc42 it was becoming too hot to touch before the SD slot replacement; hence the heatsink

To answer @Phaedrux, it would be hard to calibrate without configuration provided by the microSD card in normal circumstances.

I expect the extruder could be configured in the console; and its thermistor connected to provide a figure for those commands.

I tried pointing a laser thermometer at the heatsink to get some idea of how hot the MCU was getting before disconnecting power when it reached the 80s per M122

That indicates that the processor needs to be replaced. It should be cool or barely warm to the touch.

You didn't overclock it did you? Glaring eye

I am just playing. Althought it sound like you amp is high Does is your ethernet POE? I don know if that is a problem. but maybe even touch up the pins on your mcu chip and the usb. (maybe sure you use the no voltage module when connect it via usb. Dc42 would know more of course but just thought i would try my thoguhts.

@dc42 well, I’ve attempted a chip replacement. Despite some lifted tracks there’s minimal remedial rework needed as far as I can tell…

                                  post-operative duet 0.6

I have no intention of powering up until I’ve dealt with the obvious bridge.
