i've upgraded to v 1.19beta6 and firmware upgraded successfully, wifi server upgraded successfully, but webcontrol error, duetwebcontrol.bin file not found. As i understand it the iap4e.bin contains the images and that file is in the sys folder. Ignoring that sent SetNetwork macro and error, M587 command (in the macro) unsupported command. I got this same error message with v 1.18.2 stable.

Is there any other way to set the network ssid and password? Or another command to replace the M587, or way to fix that command?

Damn, with this version, the home z doesnt work. home all, homes x and y but not z. The very reason i installed v 1.18.2 Now i'm back where is started. No wifi and no home z.

I am a member of another forum, we all have the same printer. It uses the rumba board which many of us are not satisfied with. They have been following my progress with the duet to see if they should get that or another controller. So far at least one is opting to get the smoothie board rather than the duet. Others will follow that path if i dont get this working. Just saying.

open your config with Notepad++ and type in the info, thats what I did since I'm still learning the useful codes.
Notepad++ is a free download if you don't already have it.

I went from Smoothie to this, it was a knockoff that came with my printer, but still it should not have constantly have had me reformatting and reloading my config files. many other have had the same trouble. I hope it was just the fault of the MKS board, and not Smoothie because I liked the ease of editing in Smoothie. Lack of ppl that knew what they were doing and willing to help is lacking. I hated the canned answer of "well it works for other ppl"

All of the firmware versions can support Z-homing, they wouldn't be very good firmware if that wasn't the case!

All of the firmware versions can support Z-homing with either a Z-endstop or a Z-probe.

If you are having trouble with z-homing, that indicates that either the endstop is not wired/functioning properly, or the board is not configured properly. Please start a new thread and attach images of the endstop wiring, and upload all of the .g files on the SD card (http://www.pastebin.com works well for this).

As for the wifi, I don't expect it will work without the DuetWebControl file being properly updated. Best to review the firmware updating instructions and retry that.

Why type of printer do you have?

Can you use the web "control panel" to move on the z axis?

My endstops are wired correctly! They were working, but my wifi was not, so i upgraded to v 1.19beta6 after installing the z probe so cant know if its configured correctly or not. I will try to get the config.g file configured as it was before and test the endstops, as well as post them here.

My biggest concern at the moment is the M587 command being unsupported. Yes i can move the all axis with the move command in paneldue. As well as homex and homey icons on the panel.

I will manually move the z axis and attempt a print later after work today and see how that works. My printer is an kickstarter project out of Australia, a clone of the Stacker. Not a good printer overall but have been printing for exactly one year and made a lot of upgrades.

Given that 1.19 is a beta it's to be expected that there can be issues.

Any particular reason you stopped using 1.18?

Brian what type of printer is it Delta/CoreXY/std cartesian etc it may also help if you post your full set of Config files for us to see.

The problems you seem to be having are all down to Config's etc

M587 is a new command as of 1.19, if it isn't working that means the firmware wasn't updated fully.

So let me get this clear. Are you saying Others are basing their buying choice on the progress (or lack thereof) on one person who might or might not be doing things in the correct manner. Sorry but that's Akin to trying to charge a gun with committing murder…. And it also comes across as a very thinly veiled threat.

In that forum we all have had numerous issues with the printer, not software, and we all want each other to success, have been supportive of things that worked and cautioned on things that didnt. I want to succeed with this board and post good results so the others will be tempted to pay the higher price for the duet rather than some cheaper board that may not do much better than the original. Sorry if that came across as a threat, at any rate probably an inappropriate statement.

Calvinx, thanks for your advise, will do as you say and post results. In past attempts i get as far as the SetNetwork macro and it reports M587 command unsupported.

So at the moment i cant homez, however, the z axis will stop at 0 during the move command and
i can print, and the z axis will work at expected during the print.

I will post the config file and the homez file tomorrow.

                                      Thanks again for the help.

Just FYI 1.18 works fine too in that regard if you find that 1.19 beta has any other show stoppers.

Yeah 1.18 is the stable build, i suspect there was something else causing an issue. I would advise a word of caution using a beta firmware as an example for others who are weighing the pros and cons of a Duet
