My duet won't connect via usb so I can connect it to wifi or actually use it. I believe it took out the duex 5 board at the same time as I tried it with a new duet and it wouldn't work but the new duet did. Also tried without the duex 5 to make sure it wasn't causing issues.

@wdenker bought from Filastruder in March of last year just haven't had time to do anything with this since then. Tried using bossa to flash new firmware and recover but won't connect via usb at all. @Phaedrux

We need a lot more info.

Did the Duet 2 WiFi every work?

Did it work with the Duex?

What happened to make you think it took out the Duex as well?

When you now connect the Duet 2 WiFi via USB does Windows show a new COM port appearing in Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT)?

If I remember right it started smoking no idea why as the replacement I used worked in same wiring configuration. Usb doesn't show any device. Tried to use the duet on the new board with no response from any of the fans or motors connected.

Well you didn't exactly answer the questions as posted but let's see if we can make any progress.

Are you connecting to USB2 or USB3 port on the computer?

Are you perhaps connecting through a USB HUB - they often will not allow the connection to the Duet to work.

Are you using a long cable? Sometimes you need to use a short one.

@fcwilt same usb port that works for the rest of my boards I've setup. This will be like the 30th. Usb2 and supplied usb cord.

Well that would suggest the board is fried.

                        I have no idea.

The terms of the warranty must be on the E3D web site somewhere.

And they are really pretty good about bending the rules on occasion.

                          you followed https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Installing_and_Updating_Firmware#Section_Fallback_procedure_Num_3 ?

if so odds are the cpu is fried indeed.

Is this thread for the W00955 board shown in the other thread then? The one that might have a problem with u2, that would explain it not working with usb.

@wdenker I'd guess there's a short through the driver to ground, though not sure why there's enough 3.3V for the LEDs and WiFi to come on. It's possible the main processor has failed, though the SD card and Wifi usually fail first if 3.3V is overloaded. Can you post a picture of the back of the board, too? Have you checked the fuses? The 7.5A possibly looks discoloured.

Did the board ever work, or did this happen at first power on?

I can't see much wrong with the Duex, but again, check the fuse (it doesn't look quite right).

@droftarts all of the fuses are fine unfortunately.

                                      So this is a Duet2Wifi and a Duex5 that both don't work?

They were bought in March, but when did they stop working? Did they ever work?

When the Duex is connected to a working Duet2, does it show up in the M122?

@Phaedrux they stopped working within an hour of being configured. I don't think the duex 5 ever worked.
