Solved pressure advance
-
hello new here. i haven't read much about pressure advance. in a nutshell, the definition of pressure advance is that when the printer makes a move such as turning a 90 degree corner or starting a strait or curved line, the printer will reduce pressure as it begins slowing down (in the case of a corner or starting a line or curve) then upon acceleration increase pressure again. this is all done at very small increments and may lead to a retraction if necessarily high setting for PA?
so is PA depending on acceleration/ deceleration - i guess my point here is, a printer might slow down a lot more on making a 90 degree turn or 120 degree turn vs. making a 30 degree turn.
thanks!

Whether it slows down in XY or not will depend on what your extruder speed jerk and acceleration settings are. It's recommended to use fast extruder settings so that there is no slow down due to waiting for the extruder.

oh i see. yep that makes more sense. thanks.

@grue19 hey wow! awesome! so you can send the M572 D0 S0 commands while a print is printing and it works!
i'm printing a 25.4mm x 25.4mm x 25.4mm cube with wall thickness of .8mm right now and able to see quite a difference while issuing the command after several layers.
i can send the command from my printer touch screen or from the web interface.

Yes you can send commands during a print. In fact, if you have a paneldue you can use this set of macros to make it really easy.

Continuing this topic, rather than making a new one...
I have successfully configured PA but I am hitting an issue... with PA activated, the acceleration went down the drain. It's still properly configured in config.g but it looks like Pressure Advance overrides it somehow, when reaching corners the speed slows down tremendously and goes back up slowly, much slower than before PA was activated. PA value is 0.16 - not very large. Any ideas?
Note: I have tested with two different slicers, same behavior, no acceleration override in slicer settings.Acceleration and DAA:
M201 X2500.00 Y2500.00 Z100.00 E3600.00 ; set accelerations (mm/s^2) M593 F40.5 ; set DAA
PA:
M572 D0 S0.16

@war4peace Solved through advice from somewhere else.

@war4peace Glad you fixed it. I'm assuming that you had extruder jerk set too low - that's the usual culprit.

@deckingman Yup, you are correct
