Just got it and now the hotend heater is running wild even in OFF. Lucky me that I did see the temp rising close to 400°C and smoke from hotend.

Disconnected heater temp goes down, connected in OFF the temp rises.

Anyways, I managed to make one 1.5hour test print for my new big Delta for size verification and it fits, so I was just about to start full scale print when I observed the high temp.

I can't help to note that there are some crimps only partially inserted which pose an immediate risk of shorting when the wires move:

You also seem to be missing strain relief which can fray the crimped cables (applies to all wires, but here you can see how the bend cables get nicked just above the crimps which will likely cause them to break and fray sooner or later).

and the heater wire ferrules stick out a lot. Personally I would shorten them a bit so the ends carrying continuity aren't as exposed.

I strongly recommend addressing these issues as soon as possible.

            @oliof
            Noted!
These miniature crimps are a PITA to crimp without proper tooling as I wrote https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/27910/toolboard-feature-request

These examples are NOT shorting during operation !
            #1 X axis home switch
            #2 hotend thermistor
#3 yes they can be shorter and no shorting here

@tecno I didn't say that they are shorting currently, I just wanted to point out there is an acute risk of them shorting during continued operation in this way.

Can you remove the SD card from the Duet and power up the printer. Does the hotend immediately start to heat up when power is applied? If so, it would appear the mosfet has failed closed circuit.

If so, please send an email to warranty@duet3d.com and CC your reseller. Include a link to this forum thread and the details of your original purchase. You'll receive a reply with a form to fill out.

                Sorry for the inconvenience.

                  Good morning,

Yes it does heat up. You already got email on this issue.

                  Cheers
                  Bengt
