      I upgraded my single printer to 2 extruders IDEX. Since i use a Duet 3 Mini 5+ with a 1LC toolboard over CAN BUS, i assumed i can just add a 2nd 1LC toolboard over CAN BUS. is this possible with my setup? I dont have an expansion board. Will my setup work or did i not plan this out correctly?

        @RogerPodacter yes you can use multiple tool boards with a Duet 3 Mini. Each tool boards needs a unique CAN address, so add them to your system one at a time as described at https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Machine_configuration/CAN_connection#duet-3-toolboard-1lc-expansion-1xd-and-1hcl.

          @dc42 great news, thanks @dc42.

          i soldered the CAN pads on my 1st toolboard. rather than unsolder them, i can just keep my original toolboard as the last device in the chain, correct? so i will wire my new toolboard directly to the Duet 3 Mini 5+, and from the new toolboard then connect to the original toolboard. do these need to be wired in series or could parallel work?

            yes

            The bus should be wired in series, for short connections (called stubs) it is possible to have them effectively in parallel. We don't recommend you have multiple long stubs on the bus as it could lead to random issues with the can communication.
