The strangest bed deviation map I have ever seen.

@janjoh check for loose pulleys on the tower motors.

You know what. Something just feels "off" with the Y/Beta kinematics. Can't put my finger on it. It is nice and tigt, but just has a different feel then the other kinematics.
Will focus my effort there and see what may be up.
I am still open to suggestions on how the heck something can error so symmetrically

Yeah, @droftarts knows. It's clearly a mechanical problem - as long as you don't wanna state your bed really has this hexagonal or "sawtooth" face.

No. Milled plate from Clever3d.de so.. It's "flat enough"
-
@droftarts Heh. Looks like a bearing malfunction on one bearing on the idler. TIme to get a new one. And for that matter, replace the belt while i am at it.
-
@janjoh Which tower was causing the issue? It's certainly a pretty bed mesh!
Ian
-
@janjoh You wouldn't be using steel core belts, would you? Steel core belts going over small pulleys are notorious for causing bizarre problems when the steel wires inside the polyurethane belt break, allowing the polyurethane to stretch.
-
@droftarts Y/Beta. But I might as well replace all belts bearings while i am at it.
Also, I do not KNOW that it is the Y/Beta. I so far just know that it had a "strange feel".
-
@mrehorstdmd Nah. Kevlar (at least the package says Kevlar (Genuini Chinesium belts...), and there is atleast "textile like" fibres visible in the cuts)
-
Yeah, that Idler had SOMETHING to do with it all right.
Bearings on Y/Beta idler now replaced. This is at least acceptably strange. Guess I should retune all belts and run a new calibration run etc since I've dismantled parts of the kinematics). I just got a bit over-eager to test it.
(And yes, I forgot to replace the magnetic build surface when running the mesh, so I have a bit of an overall Z offset)
-
@janjoh Just because the heightmap is plain blue now, doesn't mean it's flat. You are just flying under the radar of the colourmap.
Either change the probe height in config.g or put the magnetic sheet back on. Then probe again -
@o_lampe Oh, I know that. But what it DOES mean is that the hex pattern is no longer present. Now it is a plain-old-inverted-taco-shape.
-
@janjoh inverted taco shape sounds like tower placement problems. See “Tower Placement Symmetry” in http://boim.com/DeltaUtil/CalDoc/Calibration.html
