Smart Effector v4 z probe not lighting up
-
Can you post some close up photos of the smart effector?
-
Here is a picture of the wiring.
-
When you checked for continuity, did you check on the solder pins on the back side of the PCB to ensure it's making it through the crimp?
And just to confirm there are now no LEDs lighting up at all, but they used to?
-
Yes I did check all the way through the pins. The only LED that doesn't light up at all is the green one for the z probe. All other LED lights do work perfectly fine, which is why I'm so confused.
-
It may be nothing, but can you try adding a leading zero to te G31 Z value?
G31 P500 X0 Y0 Z-.1
G31 P500 X0 Y0 Z-0.1
Also can you send M122 and M98 P"config.g" in the gcode console and report the results here?
-
I have added the leading 0 to the config with no change and here are the resultsM122_Results.txt
The M98 p"config.g" returned
M98 P"config.g"

Please try this
To revert to factory settings, send command M672 S131:131. The green LED will flash 5 times if the command is accepted. When you subsequently power up the Smart Effector, the green LED will flash twice to indicate that default settings are being used.
-
I sent the command and it did not flash at all. I had tried that earlier as well but got no LED response but in the console it looks like it was successful.
-
When and where did you purchase the smart effector?
Can you please disassemble the smart effector and test it with only the connection to the Duet? Also please provide a clear photo of both sides of the PCB.
-
It was purchased on 2/1/2024 from printed solid. I just took it apart and only the connection to the duet board and still same results. Here are the pictures of it.
-
Can you remove the mounting hardware as well so we can see the traces underneath?
If you have a multimeter, could you try measuring the voltage between each end of L1 and ground, or the voltage across ceramic capacitor C3?
-
Oh sorry, here it is naked. Lol
-
If you have a multimeter, could you try measuring the voltage between each end of L1 and ground, or the voltage across ceramic capacitor C3?
-
On one side of L1 it reads 3.3v and on the other about 58mv and across C3 I read about 58mv as well.
-
@vmog23 is there actually a component in position L1? From your photos I think it's either missing, or it is very well camouflaged! (i.e. the same colour as the PCB).
-
Looking at it again you are correct. There is an outline and solder on L1 but no component.
-
@vmog23 thanks, as the SE was working before I think it must have been knocked off. The 3.3V power passes through L1 so that explains why the LED doesn't light up at all. Has the SE collided with anything?
-
Not at all especially not from I was testing to the following day when it stopped working. It just weird.
-
I'm guessing that would also stop it from send a response back to the duet when should trigger the z stop, is that correct?

Is L1 user replaceable?
