@alielsayid Isn't using four rather than three a recipe for overconstraining, bending, and potential damage?

RE: Some issues configuring external stepper drivers with Duet 0.6
@dc42 I can check again, but since the X and Y steppers go through the motions (you can hear it quietly whine as if accelerating and decelerating just as expected with actual movement), I would think so.
I did get one of the extruder steppers actually moving (only on retract for some reason even with M302 P1) by double checking the wiring between the stepstick and stepper. Shouldn't have assumed all the steppers had the same pinout.
Edit: ooh, wait, maybe I have accidentally swapped En and Dir...
Edit2: Yup, not only had I turned the 3pin Dupont the wrong way around on the shield, I had also gotten the two rows on the confused on the Duet itself when connecting up E1 and E2. All steppers working now.
Mystery solved! Thank you.

RE: Duet3 with PINDA 2 probe setup
@kb58 hmm, just how lumpy did your bed get due to magnets?
I've seen some extreme cases online like the one below, but have never experience anything akin to that on my own printer using the prusa 12V bed. Perhaps I have been proving sparsely enough that by luck I have missed the hotspots.

@kb58 Prusa sells the SuperPINDA as an upgrade kit for the Prusa Mini. You don't need have a Prusa mini purchase on your account in order to purchase the upgrade kit.

RE: Duet3 1LC 1.0 vs 1.1
@dc42 how do you best use that information, though? IF I am not mistaken, you still need to select a single frequency for suppression, not separate ones per axis?
Do you pick the highest amplitude, the average of the peaks, or something else?
Or is this meant for upcoming features?

RE: Z probe as NPN inductive sensor
@sarvan
Looks like you don't need a diode unless your Duet2 WiFi is revision 1.03 or earlier. -

@dc42 that was an easy change, but alas didnt help the issue.
Oh, and I also have watterott stepstick protectors on the silentstepsticks, might they be interfering?

Some issues configuring external stepper drivers with Duet 0.6
Hi, I have added a fabscan shield with four TMC2209 silentstepsticks to my Duet 0.6/Duet shield in the hope of more drivers with less noise in operation (yes I know, get a Duet3 already).
However, when I try to move the motors on the external drivers, they only make a sound as if they were moving but do not actually budge. Motor has holding torque, so it does receive power.
I believed I had set the currents using UART, but the trim pot on the board appears to override it. I have tried setting the currents between 0.5-1.5A without any difference in behaviour except increased holding torque and slightly louder noise.
Same motor and wiring works fine connected to the main board.
I supply the fabscan shield with +5V via the Duet and +24V externally. The Duet is powered with external 12V and external 5V via the external 12V->5V converter board
TMC2209's are hooked up to step/dir/en on the Duet expansion header.
Grateful for any pointers.

RE: Dual PSU wiring
@Benny I'm not using a bunch of crimps between the PSUs as shown, just to terminate the wires and attach them to the PSU terminals.
Would tinned wire ends be better? Why?

Dual PSU wiring
Hi,
I'm upgrading my printer (Duet 0.6 and 12V bed, heaters etc) with some TMC2209 silentstepsticks which I intend to run on 24V.
Thus I need to wire up two PSU's.
After failing a few times to design and print a partial enclosure for the mains end of my 12V PSU and a fused mains socket and switch, I got the openbuilds powercase and a meanwell 24V PSU to go with it.Now I'm wiring them together.
Are there any immediately obvious errors or dangers in wiring them up like this?
I noticed the powercase lacks a fuse unlike my previous mains socket. Would it be necessary to wire fuses between the N and L terminals and the mains socket? Max power draw for the PSU's are 3.4A and 4A.
Should I tie V- to mains ground also on the 24v PSU or will I then get a ground loop? (Note I don't have mains ground in the socket right now, but don't want to get bitten in the ass by if when I move.) Should I instead just tie V- together between the PSU's?
