i found a post processor online for duet. I need to manually delete out the G54 at the start, but my test pen-plot has come out perfect. Thanks a bunch!

RE: Is there a basic guide to set the duet up as a CNC
Ah, I might have an issue.
F360, when set to grbl only lists out the co-ordinates and doesn't do a G1/0 before them like:
G1 Z1 F500 Z-1.999 Y26.033 Z-2 F1200 Y26.034 X28.967 Y26.035 X28.595 Y26.047 X28.194 Y26.057 X27.792 Y26.067
Will this still work?

@Danal
I'm pretty sure I have, but will double check -

@Danal
Thats great, I'll try that now. Thanks a bunch for the help people. Its much appreciated -
RE: Is there a basic guide to set the duet up as a CNC
@Danal
Ah, so I could do the following?- G28 home the machine
- Jog machine to start of file.
- Run macro that does:
-G10 L20 P2 X0 Y0 Z0
-G55 - Then run the file?
Sorry for all the questions, I just realllly dont want to crash the machine into an axis or the bed etc

RE: Is there a basic guide to set the duet up as a CNC
Ok so am I right in saying :
- I have a gcode file (just a re-named .nc file from fusion 360)
- I home my machine using g28.
- I jog the machine to the start of the file gcode
- Use G10 L20 P2 X0 Y0 Z0 To set the co-ords for the start of the file.
- then run the file?
How do I ensure the file runs using the work co-ords and not the machine co-ords? Do I need to specify it at the start of the file?

Is there a basic guide to set the duet up as a CNC
Hi,
Is there a basic guide anywhere I'm missing for setting the duet3hc up as a cnc board.
I.e which commands I'd need to add to the config and stuff to enable work-coordinate systems?
I've had a look through the gcode documentation but I'm lost.My machine is now fully built, the board is wired up and I've sorted out the basics (homing, soft-limits, step-calibration etc) but since I'm moving over from a 3d printing setup, I'm not sure what other commands I'd need setup
If someone could even just list out the codes that i might need to play around with I'd be immensely grateful
Many thanks
EDIT: Further question sorry for anyone who uses F360 for their cutting: I've managed to blunder my way through Fusion360's manufacturing section and I'm ready to output the file (post process it?), but it only wants to give me a .nc file rather than a .gcode even though I'm picking Grbl. Do I just re-name the file or something?

RE: Struggling to connect to new board
To be fair, I'd already realised it was an rpi image and I'd need to reformat it, I just had no idea which type it needed to be. Even a sticker on the bag it comes in would be a bonus for newbies like me lol
-
RE: Struggling to connect to new board
That was it! When i reformatted the rpi image , I must have selected NTFS.
Re-done to fat32 and its all working as expected.
Thank you so much everyone for the help! -
RE: Struggling to connect to new board
I don't have another sd card at hand, but I'll try reformatting that one (its the one that came with the board)
thanksEDIT: sorry I was an idiot, I took the sd card out as per one of the troubleshooting links earlier and didn't replace it.
New output from m122 below:

RE: Struggling to connect to new board
I think @bearer might have hit the nail on the head.
runing m20 P"/" returns :Begin file list NONE End file list ok
m122 returns the following

RE: Struggling to connect to new board
Using windows 10,
Running standalone,
the router allocates DHCP that this is plugged into (ethernet, not wifi)I've got YAT setup now, but it seems that something else immediately connects to the board and takes up the com slot since I get this as soon as its plugged in (in use by another application)
https://i.imgur.com/f2cTmCP.pngI'm going to restart the pc and see if that changes
EDIT: Restarting pc freed up the com port. M115 returns the firmware, so some progress at last!
EDIT2: M552 returns ethernet is disabled... I'm guessing I have something missing in my config then ?
-
RE: Struggling to connect to new board
I cant run M558 until I can connect to the board though? or do you mean just put it in the config?
Will try YAT now though -
RE: Struggling to connect to new board
Tried pinging the machine name directly with no luck.
The pc recognises the usb device and even says "setting up duet", but it wont let me manually change the driver to the one specified in the first link, it just says "windows already has the best driver installed" when I try to manually select it.I've tried connecting through pronterface which sees the new COM connection, but I get an "access is denied" when connecting, even though I'm running pronterface as administrator.
I'll check out that latest link now though
-
RE: Struggling to connect to new board
Will try that now thanks. I'm having no luck connecting via usb either at the moment

RE: Struggling to connect to new board
Ah fair enough. I'll read that link, thanks

Struggling to connect to new board
Hi,
I'm struggling to connect to my board (duet3HC) through the web interface. The board light blinks constantly to say everything is fine, but I can't get it to actually be given an ip by the network by the looks of it.I've attached a copy of the whole sd card in case I've set something up wrong (https://easyupload.io/7lj3mw).
The section of the config.g that relates to the network is:
; Network M552 P0.0.0.0 S1 ; enable network and set IP address M553 P255.255.255.0 ; set netmask M554 P192.168.1.11 ; set gateway M586 P0 S1 ; enable HTTP M586 P1 S0 ; disable FTP M586 P2 S0 ; disable Telnet
To the best of my knowledge, it's not being allocated an IP. I've scanned the network before and after booting up and no new devices have been allocated.
I've also tried setting the IP manually, and still get the same issue.
Note: the default gateway is 1.11, that's not a typoIf anyone could be so kind as to point me in the right direction to troubleshoot this it would be great as I'm at a loss currently
Many thanks in advance!
