      UPDATE!

Replaced the wifi module with ethernet.

      and now it's fantastic!..

I'm using a powerlink extender and it seems to be fine, So happy to have it figured..

Thanks once again for all of your help

      I'll be in touch!

      Best,

    • RE: An extruder to turn a spool

I think you need a dancing arm mechanism..

      http://www.pffc-online.com/webexclusives/7076-tension-control-dancer-0409

when the extruder pulls, it lifts the arm off a switch, maybe the switch closes a relay, car windscreen wiper motor turns the spool, arm lowers, hits the switch and stops the motor...

      quite easy...

      unless better bearings work.

    • RE: Duet WiFi vid_pid

      @phaedrux Sure,

It's the raise 3d pro tablet!, totally closed of course.

it must be usb to serial comm's and the arduino was just to prove a point, that the host tablet will recognize the correct VID_PID the duet will take place of the arduino.

I would like to use duwt wifi under host control of the raise tablet (printing over usb basically) but i need to change the vendor id and product id of the duet.

      thank you

What I meant to add was....

Is it possible to configure the duet wifi vid_pid at all?

      Thanks...

    • Duet WiFi vid_pid

      Hi all,

I have an application for my duet WiFi board that needs to controlled from a host system.

It will only accept USB devices with a certain vid_pid, I have proved this with a custom Arduino and USB identification. I can send a string of data that replicates what is sent from the duet over USB and it seems to work.

However, when I connect the duet it obviously has the wrong identification and will not connect, I was thinking of a custom USB to serial converter and use the panelduet serial connection but I fear this will be too slow for the required 230400 baud.

      Any ideas out there?

      Thanks in advance

      Ian

    • RE: duet multiple material ......

      @Sindarius

Yes please that would be kind...I have the 3d chameleon simplify profile...but I have not tried anything yet,...just doing the ground work.....

      @deckingman

I'm sure they will match, they are from the same manufacture. I was just thinking out loud.

      I appreciate the advice,...everyone!...

My cube pro now works well, it has a 600w silicone heat mat, 360x 290 x 225z print area.

I have removed the original x carriage ...it was HEAVY....it now has a temporary one....flat plate with bondtech clone, mosquito clone hotend and linear bearings attached by terry clips for easy removal.....no expense spared.!😊

I might have to incoparate a compensator mechanism to account for any difference between drives but that's another thread!...

      Once again thank you!

      Looks great...
I didn't think about doing it in definitions......hey ho!.........
      Simple really...DOH!
I'll give it a try when my expansion board arrives in the next few days...

Thank you so much for the help......

    • duet multiple material ......

      Hi all.....

I am designing a multiple material system for my duet wifi driven machine.

I have a cartesian machine (cube pro duo chassis) using one extruder on the carriage.

What I would like to to do is have a filament merger, a bit like 3d chameleon, retain the single direct drive on the carriage but feed it via five seperate bondtech extruders driven from a duex board, meaning that at any one time the tool extruder will be the main one on the carriage AND one of the other five running one to one...ie the external extruder feeding the main one.

Of course the steps must be the same and there is no room for feed errors but it's only a test.....

This way, to change material i would retract both drives, change to another feeder drive and run this one along with the main one to allow colour or material changes.

NOW!...I know axis can be mapped for x y and z but can they also be mapped to run two extruder..or extruder and expansion drive simultaneously?.......and how would i arrange the code?...

I guess M584 and something...but I would need to change this on a tool change routine....

any help would be greatly appreciated

      Thank you.........

    • RE: Strange startup

      I am so very sorry!

I lowered the supply down to 25v and now its reliable on start up..I guess the load from the bed current dropped the voltage just enough, although i doubt the cpu was in shutdown.

I have also had a horrible thought...I had wifi issues earlier in the year, random disconnects and connection failures...I wonder uif they were related.........

I might re graft the wifi board and try again...

Once again, please accept my apologies i missed this one by a mile,...if it's any consolation,...I really like using the duet.

I now have three machines running it and will spread the word, you support is second to none!
