    • RE: New smart effector - no fans?

      @phaedrux

I haven't changed anything in the DuetWifi config yet, one of the 'always on' headers on the DuetWifi is connected to the HF+ & HF- headers on the smart effector. It reads -5V. There is essentially no voltage on the HotEnd fan headers, that is, it reads -0.14V. If I plug the fan into those headers, it does not run, and it did run on my old effector. In fact, it should just come on when the power is turned on. I have a 12V power supply, and the 12 jumper is on.

My config.g line for the hot end fan is:

      M106 P2 T50 S0.5 H1 ; Heat sink fan

      thanks,
      -sandy

    • New smart effector - no fans?

I purchased a smart effector from Filastruder and have just gotten around to installing it. I have a duet wifi I've been using for years.
When I went to test, the 'always on' heat sink fan didn't turn on. I rechecked all my connections, then put a multimeter on the various locations - I get 5V from the duet wifi to the effector (HF+/HF-) and after unplugging the fan connector, nothing at the Hotend Fan connector pins. Same with the parts fan, when I turn it on. Hotend heat works fine.

      What are my next steps?

      thanks,
      -sandy

    • Sudden consistent under-voltage events

I'd been getting amazing prints out of my Artemis, until the past week. All of a sudden, every print over 1 hour long is spoiled by repeated under-voltage events. Troubleshooting steps I've tried so far:
Disconnecting the panelDue with no improvement,
Slowing down the print with no improvement.
Turning off the fans with no improvement.
Tried same print with 3 different slicers (Cura, Simplify3d and Kisslicer)

I also have my printer plugged into a UPS and there isn't anything else connected to that wall outlet.
By spoilt, the most common effect is the prints shift and starvation

The log reads line after line of VIN under-voltage event anywhere from 9.7-10.0v

When I reset the printer the log reads: Supply voltage: min 10.9, current 11.0, max 11.1

I haven't been able to download the log while printing, because of losing network access

      anyone have any ideas?

    • RE: Updated firmware - no connection - no port

what i meant was that there was a response when I pressed the erase button. There wasn't one when I pressed the reset button.

I had already looked in the device manager for any USB device and for any addition to the COM port list. Nothing. I also plugged it into a linux box, dmesg didn't show a new USB connection, and there was no addition to /dev/tty - Same on OS X - no /dev/cu* and no new /dev/tty* -
that's what I meant when it couldn't see any com port. The device isn't recognized by any OS, yet it is receiving power. I even moved the cable to different USB ports.

I'll try erase and reset again, as well as trying a newer cable.

    • Updated firmware - no connection - no port

      Hi,
Last night I updated to 19.rev5. The update failed, and I lost connection to my duet-wifi. I went through all the troubleshooting steps - nothing.

I pressed the erase button, it flashed dark and then the lights came back (see below), and held for a slow count of 5, then pressed the reset button, nothing seemed to happen, so I unplugged and replugged back into my laptop. This is all done with mains power off and only a USB connection to a computer. From this point on,

I have no port, no device at all. I've tried 2 USB cables, different USB ports, nothing. I tried 3 different operating systems on two different laptops (one is dualboot), even installing the new device drivers (.inf) files in Windows10. Not one can see any device - no com port, no USB-serial on mac, no Duet-device on windows, no USB from dmesg in linux.

On my duet-wifi, when plugged into a USB port on any computer, the lights above and below the usb connector are solid red, there is a solid green light and below that another solid red light.

When I press the reset button, nothing happens (no momentary blink or lights flash).
and now if I try the erase button, nothing happens.

I was hoping to use the bossac option to reinstall the firmware, but neither bossac, arduino and the sam-ba can see the device.
Any ideas what happened, and how to fix?
