Tool board remote heater auto tune not implemented
-
Hi,
I am in the process of setting up my printer with a tool board. The hot end is working but faults out....so I tried to do a tuning.M303 H0 S200 D360
Error: M303: remote heater auto tune not implementedNot really sure how to get past this. When I turn the heater on it does heat up for a few seconds....and then goes to fault.
Here is my current config. While I am at it I am also getting this error in my console which I cannot figure out " M350: Driver 2 does not support x0 microstepping
Driver 3 does not support x0 microstepping
Driver 4 does not support x0 microstepping
Driver 5 does not support x0 microstepping"

As it says, PID tuning on a tool board is not yet implemented. To work around it, you can connect the heater and sensor to the main board, do the tuning there, and then copy the parameters over.

@Phaedrux I missed that. Thanks
-
Alternatively, follow the manual tuning instructions.
-
Will that be built in at some point?
-
@bernie-mix
Yes, the first step was updating the tuning algorithm, which is part of 3.2. Next step would be tuning remote heaters. -
@Phaedrux Is that slated for 3.3 beta?
-
@ctilley79 I don't think it's in the 3.3 that is currently available for testing, but it's planned to be there eventually.

@phaedrux
i just discovered this problem, and it's not only the tool board but also the expansion board 3HC. which will be pain in the ass now that i installed and wired my 3 tools on it (and they are short on wire so never be able to put them on the mainboardcould you mention this limitation on the documentation of M303 ?
-
@psychotik2k3 upgrade to the latest 3.3RC. Remote tuning is available and the release seems stable

This was fixed starting with firmware 3.3 beta1 around the beginning of March 2021.

@jay_s_uk @deckingman thanks for the info i will do that especially if the release is stable
