I hope we will have news on a possible pre-order for the effector soon. We don't need to have one for the numbers, we're having plenty made because we believe it will sell well. I should have the first production units to test at the end of this week.

The advantage of a 4-wire connection is that the resistance of the wires and connectors gets cancelled out so that it doesn't affect the reading. However, E3D doesn't make a 4-wire PT100 cartridge yet. So I have a 2-wire PT100 plugged into the effector, and 4 conductors in an an 8-core cable back to the Duet. The other 4 cores are used for the Z probe connections.

It will be nice to rule out bed tilt from the new probe with a fixed bed, the variable height readings at different probe locations is the only slight weakness of the FSR sensor arrangement (and it's only a .05mm variation in my experience, which can be effectively ignore for most things).

I need to create an OpenSCAD design for a belt attachment for the PCB carriage. What are the screws spacing for a standard linear rail / the PCB carriage? I can probably make a temporary design that people can use if they are waiting on an aluminum carriage tensioner to ship.

The fixing holes on the carriage adapter are four M3 size holes on a 20mm square.

Sounds easy enough. If I create something useful, I'll post the design.

                @dc42:

The hot end mounting hasn't changed. We managed to squeeze in 3 extra mounting holes in the production version, see https://duet3d.com/wiki/Smart_effector_and_carriage_adapters_for_delta_printer#Connectors_and_Wiring.

Might be worth giving the dimensions of the additional mounting Holes David.

Just so people can start working on mounting plates for different hotends.

DC42 - Just wondering if the wiring shown in the BOM for your Kossel design is still valid for the production version of the smart effector?

I have been looking at the Zesty Nimble remote direct drive extruder.
Would it be difficult getting this to work with the pcb effector?

Any thoughts on making a dual hotend pcb effector?
It would be really nice to print supports with pva on extruder 2 🙂

The Zesty Nimble already will work on this effector exactly what I have on my Beta test one.

Sorry for the poor image Quality but you get the Idea

Dumb question, there's a jumper to switch from 12 to 24v, is it just to select the VIN you've got right, it doesn't let you plug 12v fan on a 24 VIN ?

                        Delta goes BrrrRRRRrrrrrRRRRrrr

I Suspect and am sure David will confirm that it is to allow for the LED's to work of both a 12 and 24V system and that the Fans still need to be suitable for the Vin that you are using.

at least that's how I have mine set up.

                          Doug

It is absolutley the bees knees as well I am getting spot on results from my autocal on the delta of dev's of 6-7 microns and a pretty flat bed map as well.

Is there a spot to use a beard air system on the effector too not. It iced any holes for a pass through. I know Doug, myself, luckless and Brian to name a couple have this installed.

I'm jealous of Doug getting to try that lol I might go steal it lol

No there isn't Rommie But I have designed a part to replace there Fan attachment so that the Berdair tube can be fitted but it may need adjusting slightly depending on the Diameter of the pipe that hopefully you have sent up to me lol.

Also I don't have the STL for the Nimble adaptor but it is on Shapeways still for about £6 Sure Lykle will send it to you or publish it on Thingyverse now we know that the hole spacing etc on the top of the collar is not going to change

Will the new hotend mount be mandatory to be able to use the new effector?

If yes then it would be great if you could offer a bundle, that will help to reduce customs costs for importing because everything is shipped in one package from one vendor.

Yes we will offer a kit comprising the effector + carriage adapters + connectors + custom E3Dv6 heatsink. You will be able to order other E3Dv6 parts at the same time if you want.

It's just to select the correct series resistor for the illumination LEDs. It doesn't affect the voltage fed to the fans.

Regarding the print cooling fan, we have a suggested printable design for a fan bracket and fan duct to suit a 40mm x 10mm fan; but you can of course use a different design instead.
