@nuramori yep. I am actually working on updating the documentation right now. filastruder was even more efficient than expected in getting the toolboards listed!

@t3p3tony have I recently said I both love and hate you guys? ๐Ÿ˜›

I kind of wish I knew - I literally bought the Sammy-c21 and LIS3DH last week. Lol.

Oh well. Iโ€™ll find a use. Order placed, and excited to see I made a good guess a few weeks ago!

Ok after zooming in, I either have a question (or two) or a critique.

On the adafruit LIS3DH they have a graphic icon that indicates the accelerometer orientation, so for the purposes of setting the parameter to report itโ€™s Cartesian orientation, itโ€™s easy. On the new toolboard I donโ€™t see any similar graphic, so I would ask what is the assumed x/y/z position so I can properly set the parameter?

Second question would be, if the accelerometer is now on the toolboard, what would the โ€œpโ€ parameter look like if say the toolboard can address is โ€œ20?โ€

@nuramori yes that graphic is planned for the next silkscreen, I had it on my list already. In the meantime I will update the documentation. To show the orientation of the IC relative to the board

Not sure if this may be possible or not but in theory could the accelerometer also be able to be used as a Z-Probe?

Pardon my ignorance, I've been busy and out of the loop for a while so I've missed the details of the accelerometer action going on lately.

What kind of wiring/cabling is needed to put an accelerometer on an extruder temporarily to acquire data? Could some fan wiring be temporarily repurposed?

Is the accelerometer meant to be permanently on board? I assumed it was only needed for tuning.

                    *not actually a robot

the accelerometer doesn't need to be fixed on the head, you can put it on only when calibrating (and every time you change something that can vary the machine kinetics)

Maybe, but we don't support that yet.

Yeah I realise it isn't supported as of now my query was more a case of is it possible and if so do you intend to look at it at some point down the line and I think you have answered so thanks.

@nuramori I realise I missed the rest of the question. The second part, of how you address it on a tool board:

                              https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Gcode#Section_M955_Configure_Accelerometer

The P parameter selects which accelerometer to use and is mandatory. To use an accelerometer on a CAN-connected expansion board, use the form P''board-address.device-number'' for example P22.0

So if the toolboard address was 20 it would be

                              M955 P20.0

The documentation is now updated with the orientation information:

@lbi yeah, I posted this before that was even up, as Filastruder jumped the gun, or were quicker on the draw than even Tony to get it on the internet ๐Ÿ™‚
