Duet 2 wifi - Z axis doesnt double-home, wifi constantly drops
-
First thing people are going to ask is:
- Post your config.g and config-override.g using the "Code" button at the upper-level of the posting editor.
- Post all of your homing files homex, homey, homez, homeall (Of course using the "code" button)
- Post the results of M115 using the "Code" button.
- Post the results of M122 using the "Code" button.
This will help people know where you are at with settings and can increase the odds they will be able to get you running better.
-
Thanks @alankilian here is the info you mentioned:

I have in the past had wifi issues like you describe after doing an update or reverting to an older release. I think sometimes the wifi firmware gets messed up. Try reflashing it by running
M997 S3
from the console and when that completes, switch the power off and on again.
It might take flashing a couple of times but this should work. -
@ajdtreyd thank you
I noticed that it seems to drop connection with my octopi at the same time as it drops the wifi connection. The octopi throws a message that says the printer experienced an error and dropped the connection. I dont know if the duet it breaking the connection, or just glitching or restarting

If you compare homez to homex or homey, the other axes have two moves defined and Z only a single one.
Try changing the homez and Z section in homeall something like this. with the fast - back off - slow sequence of moves:

@rjenkinsgb I briefly tried that last night but I didn’t restart the printer afterwards. Does the board need a restart for changes to the homing files like it does for the config.g? Or are they essentially just macros that read from the hone files as they are used?
Jeremy
-
@wrenches they're just macros that are read when they're used.
Post the changes you've made to your files and we can comment on them -
@jay_s_uk the changes I made were after the files I posted, but I will post them when I get home from work tonight
-
@rjenkinsgb Heres what I put and it seems to work perfectly. Hopefully this will improve the repeatability of my z axis. Thanks for your input!
