    • Pausing when sequence printing.

So when printing models one at a time is there a way to make sure the pause location clears the tallest completed part? Or is it just easier to set the pause location accordingly?

and if thats the case is there a way to have custom gcode in start files that can comment out current pause location and uncomment the sequence location? Or is that just something i would have to do manually in the system files before printing?

    • vcore 3.1 motor stalling.

Hello, So im commissioning my ratrig build for the first time and Im having an issue with one of the xy motors. I'm unsure if 'stalling" is the proper term for the issue but it just makes a horrendous noise and doesn't move the printhead in its diagonal direction when I individually command the motor for "Y". When i test the "X" motor it moves nice and smooth. Ive switched the motor mapping in the config and the issue swaps to the "x" diagonal direction. This is my first corexy build so im not sure how to properly troubleshoot this issue. Ive tried googling for a solution but im not having much luck. Any help would be much appreciated!

config to see if im overlooking something.

    • RE: Orbiter 2.0 configuration on Duet 2 wifi

@dc42 I dont think its actually skipping steps though. I really cant pinpoint the noise if its the hob gears or in the housing...
The tension arm never moves and the visible bearing doesnt bounce. And im also not seeing any hiccups in the print.

I went through teaching techs calibration site twice getting it dialed in and my e steps are spot on. I still had to dial the flow back to 72% in my slicer. But It could just be the rapidos long melt zone and having to print PETG slower than pla. So im not sure if thats some underlying issue or anything but everything is printing very well...

Maybe im just being paranoid about burning it out. Ive been monitoring it with a FLIR thermal camera and i havent seen it get above 92c ... generally hangs out around 85- 86c.

@phaedrux your a wizard man. totally a wire in the drag chain... as soon as the hotend moves to the far side of the bed the wire for the fan is bent and when it straightens out in the chain it comes back on. Thanks!

Ya it seems like m107 in the g code is turning off fan1 for some reason....

      man what a frustrating issue....

It was printing flawlessly when I printed a part with a small first layer...

noticed the issue yesterday when i had a part with a large base and i had a jam by layer 2 because of heat creep 😞

    • RE: Hotend fan issue.

@jay_s_uk crud sorry I already put everything back together before i saw the sd card thing...

but after inspecting the connectors and making sure polarity is correct and continuity is present for the proper wires to each fan...

put everything back together and it the hotend fan is now observing the thermostatic control....

but still running into the issue of it starting and stopping at the beginning of a print.

would it still be helpful to remove the sd card and power up the board?

part cooling fan operates as it should and responds to the DWC. ... however the tool fan is also listed on the DWC and doesnt respond to the controls... they both slide together when i attempt to manipulate them and the hotend fan wont turn off even when cool and i ask it to with m107 (not sure if it would even respond to that or not)

@jay_s_uk Would it still always be on except for when its printing?

It ignores the thermostatic control and is just always on.
Then when I start a print It only starts and stops on the first few layers then goes back on full time. Its like the print file m107 is trying to kill my hotend fan for the first few layers at the same time its telling my part cooling fan to be off until layer 3.

    • Hotend fan issue.

So Im sorry to be posting so much. I just seem to be having issues after migrating to the newest firmware.

So my fan seems to come on and off during the first few layers. I did some searching and have seen others with the same issue and it looks like my hotend fan isnt properly defined to T0.

Ive tried a few changes but I cant seem to iron it out with anything i see to try and change. can anyone spot my issue in my config?

    • RE: Firmware Retraction Macros not taking effect until next print.

@phaedrux I'm using your tuning macros from github.

I followed your setup instructions and found my settings via a retraction tower test ... Then updated the reported values to my config. So it has retraction settings set to .8/.78 @ 45mm/s in my m207 down below the custom settings.

And ive matched that everywhere.. in cura and also edited the "return retraction settings to default" macro to those settings as well.

and for whatever reason after that retraction tower test whenever i start a new print my reported retraction value is .8/ 1.78 @ 60mm/s

So i have to use the reset macro and then then other retraction macros to get back to my preferred setting...

I can get it back to my settings fairly quickly but Im trying to not have to navigate my macros as fast as i can while it's laying the first layer down.

    • RE: Firmware Retraction Macros not taking effect until next print.

@phaedrux so any idea whats causing the github macros to additively affect my retraction distances on the next print? Do they overwrite my config distances? or add to it? I found a good distance on a retraction test print. Then when i updated my config with the reported values on the next print my unretract distance was a combination of all the adjustments i made on the test print and instead of being .78mm it was 4.78mm.

do i need to use the reset retraction macro after i make the config change?

    • RE: Firmware Retraction Macros not taking effect until next print.

@phaedrux I did that but didnt realize you also need to still check the box for enable retraction in the cura settings. Im not sure if the numbers are arbitrary or if they affect anything relatively. but it is indeed working now... Im just almost to 3mm retraction to my .8 nozzle and still getting some oozing.

im just having trouble understanding the relationship of cura settings for retraction and acceleration compared to firmware settings... Does having everything enabled in the firmware overwrite curas generated values? or do i need to go through and match my firmware settings with everything in cura?

Like there are a whole lot of printer settings in that plugin that dont match my printer at all... Does the plugin start throwing anything off if its installed and not changed? or does having the settings all hidden except for the firmware retraction keep them from interfering?
