I'm having a little bit of difficulty getting the best PID settings for my current printer setup.

Setup:
Duet
24V
DyzeEnd Pro with a 60W heater cartridge
PT100
Water cooled

I've run Autotune to 450deg C at 0.75PWM and the following figures were presented to me with a warning that the unit can reach 1060 deg C.

GAIN: 1035
Temp Constant: 378.5
Dead Time: 3.6

When I bench test these they worked well, I also setup start gcode for my less power hungry filaments which simply sets the PWM to 0.5. All this worked really well.

However when I put these figures into my printers config I keep getting heating up errors telling me the unit is not heating up fast enough.

Now I have deleted the config.overide from both machine as too be honest I don't know why it is there.

• Could it be that somwhere else there is more failsafe PID settings which I'm missing?

• Has anyone else experienced this? If so what can be done to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your responses. I will check the wiring.

The one thing to note though is that the machine is not moving and these spikes occur so all the wiring is static. With this in mind would you still think it's the wiring?

I have an interesting one today. We run a machine which has 9 individual heat beds. These heat beds are controlled via the duet web interface as can be seen in the attached picture. The problem we have is that there are these temperature anomalies which appear to be completely random. Sometimes they are fast enough to not cause a problem other times they take to long to return to the requested temperature and then returns a fault.

I realise I have not given much information regarding the equipment and will gladly do so. First though I'd like to find out if anyone else has seen something similar to this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I realise this topic has been raised a couple of times before with various solutions being put on the table namely worm gears and firmware changes.

What I would like to know is if anyone has had any success operating brakes on stepper motors without making firmware changes? I'm using the Duet 2 eco system with the DUEX 5 expansion board.

I'm planning on driving two Nema 17 with friction brakes. These brakes require a always on 24V signal to disengage. The plan was to get the 24V through a Mosfet Board.

Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
