    • Selling my printer

Hello all, I have a Nophead Mendel90 with E3D V6 and DuetWifi. It's been a good printer, but it's only ever been a hobby. The trouble is I have rarely had time to use it over the last 12 months (new baby and other projects…). It just sits in the corner of the lounge making me feel guilty for not using it! So, I've decided it need to go. Preferably to someone who will make more use of it. But is there a market for second hand home built 3D printers? Or would I be better off selling the Duet, V6 and motion frame separately? Where would be the best place to sell it? Are sales permitted here? Any thoughts welcome!

Powering off and on again. USB disconnected, turning ATX PSU off at the wall, then back on again.

I now have physical access! Connected over USB serial, restarted the web server (M552 S0 followed by M552 S1), connected and it all worked as expected. Not sure why rebooting the whole board did not do this… Happily up and running again though 😄 Thanks for your time dc42.

    • RE: Reconfiguring WiFi Connection

      Just tried that, it hangs:

      [c]PS C:\Users\James> ipconfig /renew WiFi
      Windows IP Configuration[/c]
      After approx 5 minutes, Ctrl + C
[c]An error occurred while renewing interface WiFi : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.[/c]

Unfortunately the baby is asleep in the same room at the moment, so I can't connect via USB right now! Kids, eh?

    • Reconfiguring WiFi Connection

Right, I got a new router so I need to reconfigure my DuetWifi to connect to it. Since it can't see the original SSID, the DuetWifi goes into access point mode (good). When I connect to the DuetWiFi AP I have the following problem:

Basically my IP address is way out of range. I have tired setting my IP manually to 192.168.1.100, mask to 255.255.255.0 and gateway to 192.168.1.1. I've also tried resetting the DuetWiFi multiple times. Am I missing something? Is there a way to do a "factory reset"? I may take this opportunity to move up to the 1.15c firmware.

    • RE: Wow!

I'd like to add my thanks here too! The community around the Duet is by far the most helful and friendly I have come across. It is partucularly helpful having core developers like dc43 and T3P3Tony around and willing to answer questions. Maybe it's becuase we're all mad keen to make the most out of our kit?

    • Slicing

So the Slicing recommendations page on the Wiki is a bit sparse.
Does anyone have any Duet specific slicing tips/tricks besides using relative movement?
Have people had better results with a particular slicer, or is this more down to machine/presonal preference?

As batch 5 is still pre-order, I expect they will be the V1.0 boards.

Just had a quick go with this, one thin I noticed was in the homeall.g file the z homing appears to be done at the corner (first point) rather than the middle.

    • RE: Mendel90 Dibond with DuetWifi

My plan was to use a simple GPIO pin trigger, with a script/program running on the raspi monitoring the pin and controlling the capturing of images. I've had some experience with this playing with my PiCam already.

I spent a long time considering all the reprap DIY/self-build models before settling on the Mendel90. And Nophead's kit was excellent value considering the pre-cut dibond sheets.

I am also keen to play with other styles of printers though, and have love the way deltas move when printing. Just need to find the time…

    • Mendel90 Dibond with DuetWifi

Spent the weekend getting my Mendel90 up and running with my Batch 4 DuetWifi. Coming from RAMPS & OctoPi it's been an interesting couple of days. I love the all in one WiFi web interface and the IR bed peobe. I'm probably going to set up a RaspberryPi Zero with PiCam as a WiFi camera feed, perhaps with capture triggered by IO from the DuetWifi (not sure what signals yet…). Hopefully I'll find time in the week to try a test print!

      Edit:
Other future upgrades will hopefully include

      • an aluminium heat spreader (or aluminium with silicone heater mat heated bed)

      • a dual extrusion solution (perhaps E3D Cyclops or Prometheus… https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/811909269/the-prometheus-system-intuitive-multi-filament-3d

For anyone else who is trying to get a Mendel90 (or any other cartesian printer) up and running I'm more than happy to share my experiences!

    • RE: Standby power from +5V in

I have connected the +5V, PS_ON and GND to my ATX PSU (and moved the jumer to the external 5 V). I can now use M80 and M81 to turn the 12 V supply on and off.

With the ATX PSU turned off I can connect USB and power the board as normal (with no 12 V).

Looks super! Will pre-order kits come with a connector pack for wiring up? Just checking so I can order in some keyed connectors if not!

Just ordered one for Batch 4. Can't wait! Very pretty…. It's going to a be a world apart from my current RAMPS setup!
