    • Part Cooling Fan not working on P6 and P8

I am running an e3d toolchanger , Core XY printer with 4 tools. Running latest version of RRF2

The Fan on P6 has not been working for a while now, so after unplugging the board and rewiring it again , I am now no longer getting fan p8 to turn on as well,.

What I am seeing -- when I plug and measure the current from P6 and P8 it is reading in the 23-24V range all the time, even if the tools are not active.

The 2 cooling Fans in P2 and P4 have a Voltage of 0 when not running and ramp up as I slide the fan from the web UI.

I applied a 24v charge to the 2 cooling fans on tools 3 and 4 (P6,P8) and they were spinning ok.

It is when I decided to measure the tools with working fans that I noticed that those had an initial voltage of 0 when powered off and not constant like the other 2.

All the thermostatic fans 1,3,5 and 7 are working fine. When I turn on the hotend the hotend fan will fire up as expected without fail.

Run out of ideas on what else to check -- hoping it may just be a config setting that I may have overlooked.

      thx:

      @droftarts PXL_20230315_172832202.jpg

Here is 7.5A fuse and 1.5A side by side.

I think 7.5A is blown. Not sure about 1.5A it looks clean.

I checked the 15A fuse also and it looks clean it has a connecting metal strip

      Please Advise,

    • RE: Duet 2 Wifi fried?

@droftarts I measured the resistance of the heating element and it showed very little resistance 0.3 , I think this is the culprit. It is the only used component that I used.

Assumming this is correct, what is the fix for this? Do you have a part I should look for to attempt a fix?

      thx

@droftarts here is photo when powered up using the micro USB

There is a red led light on near left side of image, I hadn't noticed that before.

Will fixing this require soldering work to replace fuse?

      Thx

    • Duet 2 Wifi fried?

I am running duet 2 wifi board on e3d toolchanger.

I have all 4 tools on my device and needed to rebuild tool 2 due to a print failure that clogged up the hotend.

When I picked up tool 2 and proceeded to turn on the hotend heater it became unresponsive. I was re-using a heater component I had recovered from another tool for my rebuilt hotend, which was connected to a new thermistor same part cooling fans and hotend fans.

I shut down the printer and powered it again and it is only showing a blue LED light. The blue led light that was coming on was the one at the same level as the motor connections and not near the sdcar. I couldn't connect to the printer any more. Web interface was not up.

I then proceeded to plug in the usb cable to my laptop after verifying that the sdcard was not corrupted.

Wifi came back up and I was able to connect to my printer. The 2 led lights on duet 2 near sdcard slot lighted up and appeared to look ok. I even attempted to home the printer but that operation failed, which I expected since 5v doesnt have enough power for that.

I also measured the voltage at the dc power out to the duet 2 , when the blue light was on and it was 24v .

Any help would be appreciated to trouble shoot this further.

      Thx

    • Issues with Duet 5 mini+ sdcard problems ..

Ratrig v core 3 issues. I ordered a rat rig vcore 3 with duet mini 5+. 1 yr ago

I never got to build it until now. I am having issues with the board not sure it is defective. I am using reprap v 3.4.1 latest. I was successfully able to print with it only 2 times.

The red led light on duet mini is blinking 3 times every time I turn it on. Once I home, then turn on the hotend I am no longer able to connect to the web interface.

The 1st time I saw this error, I was getting errors about the web interface having SD card issues for ex. A folder wasn't available or all my print files disappeared. I then tried switching to using 3 different SD cards and still seeing the same issue.

At one time I thought the wifi wasn't working. It appears that my troubles start when I turn on the hotend. Shortly after that I am unable to connect to printer.

I am using bl touch and all the sensors and end stops and motion system appear to work ok.

When I lose connectivity then turn off printer, I am usually able to connect to printer. I am only using web interface to connect to printer.

The message I posted above is what I sent to ratrig tech support and they asked me to repost here, for authorization: I found an issue that seemed eerily familiar to what I am seeing at this link also:

      https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/21004/duet-3-mini-5-unable-to-connect-via-browser

      Please advise.

      Thx

    • RE: Duex5 issues with fan

@phaedrux Hi, the store I bought this product is asking me to get approval from some one in your team to get a refund for this product.

I am using the same fans on other fan slots with no issues. The same fan that is not powering up on P8 is working fine from both a secondary power supply.

      Please Advise,

      thx

@phaedrux I forgot to add in addition to testing using a separate 24v power source.

I also plugged in the fan for P8 which was not working into P4 slot, then picked up tool 2 to see if it worked, which it did.

      thx

    • RE: Duex5 issues with fan

      @phaedrux
There was a fan plugged into that slot and it does power up when I use a separate power supply providing 24v and 0.1A power. I removed that fan so the damage could be seen easily.

Is there a brand of fan that is not supposed to be used by these boards?

All my part cooling fans for my 4 tool changers are using the same model of fan.

      Thx

    • RE: Part Cooling Fan not working on P6 and P8

@phaedrux All the fans are working when I use a separate 24v power source.

Not being an electrician when I noted there was 24v pwr on bad fan -- I eneded up replacing the wiring on my fan until I realised ( dumb me ) that it should have initially read a value of 0.

I didnt realise that the fan itself might short out.. i am using 24v fan winsinn -- I did read some article about them being unreiable fans.

What can I do to prevent a short from fan blowing my mosfet?
