BLV Mgn Cube Motion

Grinding noise and no motion is what happened to me when I had motors working against each other or didn't have the two coils hooked up correctly.
I would start by unplugging one motor at a time and then moving a little bit in each direction just to see that the motor responds.
And make sure you have the two coils properly identified -- DONT go by wire color. The BLV MGN instructions based on color has lead many astray -- there is no standard for color or order

@I_Jedi I bought a kit and it can with wires already with ends on them... So I am just assuming the are correct.

M112 is emergency stop. M122 is diagnostic report.
Use this method to identify your motor phase pairs. Each phase should be connected to either side of the motor connector.
For the stepper motor current you should target to use between 60-85% of their rated max current.
Make sure you don't unplug the motors while the board is powered.

There is no standard. If the motors came with a spec sheet that shows the wire pairs, then make sure you are wiring those pairs correctly to the board. If it doesn't show which pair is which wires, use the test linked above.

Adding my voice to the recommendations to test your motor phases. My BLV cube kit came with inconsistent wire colors on the motors and I burned out one of my Duet2 drivers before I learned better!
I also think itβs likely that you have motors working against each other. Try (IIRC) G1 Y20 F500 S2 and see if just one motor turns.

@Phaedrux Ok. You were of course correct. Rewired the stepper motors. Going through the setups to get the motors working together correctly. Right now when I go to home x it heads for y home. And then on to getting the 3 Z motors to work together.
-
@mrenz999 Congrats!!
And you didn't even burn a driver out in the process.
-
@whopping-pochard I sure hope not LOL
-
@mrenz999 If you're homing is messed up you need to verify your drive assignments in config.g and your wiring on the physical board.
Have you checked the BLV Facebook page? I'm a moderator on the page and there's a lot of good information on there.
-
@dhusolo I have everything homing correctly now. Thank you. I will go to the facebook though. I am now messing with getting the triple z motors working together. Also, I need to figure out setup correctly for speeds, steps and amps for the motors. One step at a time. Too much work and not enough time to play lol.

@mrenz999 what turned out to be the issue, in case someone with the same problem stumbles across this months/years from now...
-
@I_Jedi Phases of the motors were in fact wrong. It was pin 1 and pin and 3 and 2 and 6 that were the 2 phases.
-
@mrenz999 good job tracking that down!
