OpenBuilds precision V-Slot and Delrin rollers vs cheap Chinese linear rails? No thanks…

The carriage adapters have the usual 4 mounting holes on a 20mm square to attach to standard linear rail sliders or Kossel wheeled carriage trucks. If the two holes on one side of that carriage are 20mm apart, then I guess you could drill another hole in the carriage adapter for the single hole on the other side of your carriage.
Having first used wheeled carriages and then switched to linear rails, I prefer the rails too.
We have a couple of beta users who are investigating how to mount the Nimble on top of the effector.
-
Thanks David. Those 3 holes are for the wheels themselves.
But it looks like switching to something like this could work if I can find a printable belt fastening mechanism:

Hi David,
I have a linear rail carriage with mounting holes on a 26 mm square.
Is it possible to have carriage adapters with no mounting holes so I can drill them using a printed jig?Regards,
Vasan -
I think it would be possible (just) to drill 2.9mm holes with 26m centres in the existing carriage adapters. You would have 1.5mm between the inner edges of your new holes and the outer edges of the existing ones.
What size linear rails use 26mm mounting centres?
-
Thanks David for the reply! I might have to be extra careful.
I have ARC 15 MN carriage blocks. Here is the link:

I forgot to mention that the 26 mm square mounting holes are M4 in size instead of M3. So, I think only undrilled carriage adapter will work for me.

Any more news on a release date for these. Very interested in one
-
Looking like early next month.
-
Sweet is there any preorder going on??
-
Please count me in, now that I am back to Haydn's rods instead of tricklaser rods I am very interested, too….
-
Wow…I've just now noticed this topic. What a stunning design, I really love the concept!
Also, if you haven't already is there any chance you could work with the Zesty Nimble crew so they can design a mount for this new heatsink/effector arrangement?
Cheers!
Has already been done as long as the Hole system on the production Hot-ends don't change but the Zesty guys will be able to mod that in about 30 sec's flat I reckon Lykle came up with the adaptor in about 30 mins.

The hot end mounting hasn't changed. We managed to squeeze in 3 extra mounting holes in the production version, see https://duet3d.com/wiki/Smart_effector_and_carriage_adapters_for_delta_printer#Connectors_and_Wiring.
-
Will this be compatible with the upcoming Pico hybrid hotend or will it only work with the special e3d mount?
Would love to pair this with a pico hybrid and Zesty nimble cable extruder
-
It has a 12mm diameter hole in the centre for mounting the hot end.
-
David any idea when we will be able to order I am that impressed by the Beta that I will want to put a release one on the delta to take account of the changes that have been made?
Doug

We expect to have them available early next month.

Hmm…
No place for your IR z-probe device?

That's because it has been superseded by an on-board nozzle contact sensor which doesn't care about bed type, material or colour.
