Thought I would retune my hotend.
It is now 00:04, so phase4 has been running for over an hour.
      Is this normal?
      Part cooling fan is running.....

      Board: Duet 3 Mini 5+ (Mini5plus)
      DSF Version: 3.4-rc2

It looks like the temperature is getting to 230C according to the image you've posted?

          And the setpoint is 245C?

So maybe it can't actually reach that temperature with the fans running?

What does your hotend look like?
Does the fan duct blow on the hotend?
Are you using a nozzle sock?
Have you tried tuning with M303 H1 S245?

I had the same issue yesterday. Tried two times M303 T0 S250 and waited for up to 2.5 hours. Nothing happened. M303 H1 S250 worked properly.

@martinnyhc Did your hotend get to 250 with the fan running?

                  @gloomyandy Morning!
Yes it did get to 250,
@alankilian is correct, RailCore fan ducts are super efficient, thats why we do not run them at 100% !

                  I will try try with M303 H1 S245 as @Phaedrux has suggested.
I just ran it as guided in the Duet Online Documentation...

Maybe an addition needs to be made in the documentation, when using the 'T' parameter, or maybe a firmware change.
T = Tunes with Partcooling fan enabled in Phase4, depending how good your cooling effect is, it may not reach the desired temp.
                  Or
Firmware knows after 10 mins in Phase4 that it will not reach its target temp, to drop the fan speed or to fail the tuning.

                  Thanks all, appreciated.

                  Regards,
                  Paul.

@paulhew Perhaps use the M106 X option to limit the max fan speed if it is not usually used. I'm surprised that the tuning did not complete if the heater was able to get to the target temperature though. How long was it taking to get up to that temp?

                      @gloomyandy Before Phase 4? About 3-4 mins.
It has a 50W heater in the Mosquito.

As soon as the fan kicked in it dropped it by 15 degrees!
Maybe if I was tuning for PETG or PLA, it might of coped 🙂

@paulhew Did it ever get to 250 in phase 4? How long did that take? You normally see a sort of saw tooth heating/cooling pattern, did you get that after the fan kicked in?

@gloomyandy Apologies, I did not understand the question.
No it never got to 250 in Phase4, 230 ish was the max it could reach with the part fan running.

When I sent the final screenshot, it was apporox an hour running Phase4.

I just run the process with a temp of 200 - never had it fail to complete.

It sounds like your fan duct needs to be moved to not blow on the nozzle so much.

@phaedrux I'm having the same problem, though my temperature isn't failing to be reached whatsoever. It's cycling nicely up and down. It just never ends.

@gnydick You can try adjusting the Y value lower

That's the problem then. Either reduce the cooling effect that the fan has on the hot end (e.g. by putting a silicone sock over the heater block, if it doesn't already have one), or by using a less powerful cooling fan, or by redirecting the fan duct away from the hot end and more towards the print; or tune at a lower temperature.
