@jgrouse if the temperature readings have little noise then you can speed up the tuning process by using the Y parameter to reduce the hysteresis. The default value is 5C.

If you want to bypass tuning for now, you can construct a M307 command manually. It sounds to me that your bed heater is using default M307 values for a hot end heater. The default values for a bed heater are:

M307 H0 R0.13 C700 D10

You may find that those values work well enough.

That should command the head to 30mm above the pause point, then down to the pause point, and then resume the laser.

The I2C MCP4725 DAC is a 10bit digital to analogue chip which can be sent M260 I2C commands to set the output voltage. Does the laser controller accept an analog input? If it accepts both analog and PWM through the same input, it may be just smoothing the PWM.

Have you calculated whether the latency of the I2C transactions will be low enough?

Same thing has started happening again on the same FW version. I think a newer FW was recently released so will try that one to see if this was addressed?

If you want to speed-up things, I suggest you re-write the lib. They might have implemented a lot of stuff you don't need which can slow down the reading. I did that for their PWM lib for PCA9650, and gained a factor 2 or 3 in speed.

Glad you got it sorted. They are very good motors. For travel moves I do 233 mm/s and 4500 accel 15 jerk. It's snappy. I tried 300mm/s 6000 accel and 20mm/s jerk and it was starting to sound a little angry and the printer would shake a bit.
