I finally have some closure on this topic. Until recently, the motor in question has been working just fine. So I assumed it was some form of user error.

Recently that same motor stumbled. Upon inspection, I found that the motor would work fine but if I touched the wires near the entry to the motor, it would stumble.

Unfortunately the leads are hard-wired into the motor so this is not something I could repair without dis-assembling the motor.

The good news is that I finally have resolution and this one was not my fault. All of that practice crimping made the replacement with the new motor uneventful.

Hey @dc42 . You are the man. I did try that setting but I was looking for Z values to start at 1000 (retracted) and go to 0 when deployed. From a cursory look, its working! No alarm when I trigger using G30.

I'm printing out a new mounting bracket and will try it all out - hopefully this week.

It would really depend on the circumstances. Typically for a mosfet to fail there would be a wiring problem or an inappropriate load.

What boards did did your mosfets fail on and what were the circumstances?

Got my replacement board and was able to successfully home all axes that day. Today I got my first print. Thank you again!
