    • Merge Status and Dashboard in DWC mobile

      Ladies and gents,

I'm on 3.4.0rc2 and really struggling with new DWC layout on mobile.
I keep constantly jumping between Status and Dashboard to get things done.

As it is now under the Status you have Tool Position and tool/bed Temperatures and Dashboard has Machine Movement, Extrusion Control and Fan Control.

When I jog around or adjust z height etc I need to know Tool Position but that means jumping to Status to check and then back to Dashboard to adjust and round robins.

Also having Extrusion Control and Tool Temperatures would make sense to have together too aka keep an eye on when temp is up and then extrude/retract.

Last one, when editing files aka config.g keyboard is not popping up on iOS (it does work under the Console)

Could this be so called Feature Request to "dev gods" or anyone knows the fix which does not involve running older DWC variant?!

      Ta

    • RE: Dashboard view on iphone

@adamfilip I'm totally with you, this was changed in v3.4.0 of DWC
As a temp fix I've rolled back all my Duet machines to DWC v3.3.0 which has proper functional look.
I do really hope this will be reverted back to normal for those who use their non desktop class devices to manage their machines.
      Thank you in advance.

Whoever reads this and has the power to make things right please see screenshot attached of good v3.3.0 and not so good v3.4.0+

    • RE: Duet3 as hardware for LinuxCNC?

You could simply wire Duet 3 Expansion Board directly if you're up for a challenge.
I've played with Duex5 (Duet2 expansion board) and Mega2560 to get decent drivers on Marlin back in a day.
Shouldn't be much different to certain extent right?!

    • DWC 3.4.0-b7 on mobile, new layout issues

I've found myself constantly jumping between Dashboard and Status.

When jogging Dashboard I have to jump back to Status to see Tool Position than back to Dashboard to to jog, sometimes lots of back and forth.

Also Extrusion control would make sense to be next to the reported temperature found in Status.

      Also while we're at it:

      1. Machine movement - for Y axis there's empty space (see screenshot, marked in red)
      2. Menus underneath when link is saved as "Home Screen bookmark" are covered by FaceID devices "slide bar thing" (see screenshot, marked in green)

      Thanks

    • RE: Duet 2 wifi struggles to load my files.

@specktech I’d go through theses steps troubleshooting the issue:

      1. Move away WiFi AccessPoint, too close for a WiFi is also not good.
      2. Copy all the content to new SD card formatted with SD Memory Card Formatter just because.
      3. If upgrading firmware to the latest seems mega effort (hence config file must be tweaked if going up through the versions) only upgrade to highest within the release aka v1 to 1.26.1, v2 to 2.05.1
      4. Try clean config on spare SD card and see if it’s still being weird (easiest way is 10x clicks through https://configtool.reprapfirmware.org to generate generic config, no need really for any data more than right board, firmware version and WiFi details for the testing purposes)
      5. With clean config you could try to upgrade to the latest firmware 3.4.0 to see if that’s the fix, you can always revert back to old firmware via Bossa app method.
      6. Unplug everything but power to see maybe some of the components are causing some interference.
      7. Talking interference, turn off/unplug any other devices nearby. Things like radio baby monitors for example could simply hinder WiFi useless. I’ve seen power supplies generating enough “noise” to affect WiFi.
      8. Talking PSU’s, try unplugging PSU and power duet via USB brick aka phone charger.

@mikep91 I’d personally suggest to go with Duex5 expansion board in your case.

@rexx you can downgrade firmware quite easily, haven't downgraded my one yet though, I believe in good ppl fixing the issue at some, naive - perhaps! 😉
For the time being I've added couple of lines into my start gcode to do "staged" heating up which works well for me.

It goes to 40c fine 1st go but then needs extra "dwell" time so by adding slow moves gives that extra time... Not great by no means but oh well, it's temporary right?! Right??! 😁

@johanv Hey, I've done Ethernet to WiFi successfully. If you go with buying the module mentioned earlier please note you will need to solder in headers after desoldering WiFi module. If you are in UK I do have my old headers and happy to post them to you. They are not your typical DuPont style headers, tad bit smaller (if anyone knows the type, please post in here, ta)

    • RE: Unknown Print Error

@tratoon I’d go by 1st trying to print 1 item at the time or slowing print down, apart from not looking that pretty bottom bit of the part seems fine, it only fails when long travel is involved, could be as simple as your machine is not handling fast moves that well (current set too low or accelerations set too high)

    • RE: Unknown Print Error

@mikeabuilder on the paper vs feeler gauges topic. Paper weight is defined by its thickness, your typical office paper most likely is 80gsm which is 0.1 thick (if you have different gsm just Google for the chart) so double fold gives you 0.2. Paper “sponginess” can be advantageous really - when you drag your paper across it cleans your nozzle 1st to ensure you are measuring actual nozzle and not micro buildup and then you can simply feel the heigh (very useful if you can’t stick your face close to the bed). Also on the feel bit, it’s easier to feel 0.05mm difference with the paper than gauge, someone could easily stick 0.4 gauge in 0.2 gap and say feels ok, also with most machines and their borderline flimsy design you could manage to jam 0.6 and feel “ the same”. Something has to give and that’s rather paper sheet than printed part gantry (it’s your basic bushing argument really). Just to clarify - I’m not saying gauges are bad, no way, all I’m saying I wouldn’t dismiss sheet of paper that quickly hence for some, maybe even most, paper is better option.

@visionary uncomment G29 S1 from your start gcode, could be that when probed it sensed some bed clip or so and thinks that the bed is curled up and now trying to compensate. How does your height map look like btw?!

(See screenshot of successful no warnings PID tune)

When it gets to the temperature it's all happy and stabile.

Did just now PID, updated config file with new parameter, let bed to cool down to ambient temp (25c today) and set it to heat up to 70c - it failed at 58c so I had to reset the heater and resume heating, it reached 70c and been sitting on it for 10mins now stabile flat.

And I'm all up to date on latest firmware and DWC (3.4.1) but it's been like this for a while now, I believe as far as 3.2 but I might be wrong on specific version but it's been a while.

      Thanks.

    • PID'd bed keeps failing on heat up

      Ladies and gents,

      Quick sanity check I guess.

To PID tune bed you do "M303 H0 S70" and "M307 ..." output you dump into your config file and it's good to go after the reboot right?!
If I've missed something can someone please remind me?!

If I'm right then I do have a problem... Every time (95%) I heat the bed from room temp (20ish) it goes up to to 45-55c and fails without reaching set temp (eg 70c) with lovely "Error: Heater 0 fault: temperature rising too slowly: expected 0.30°C/sec measured 0.08°C/sec"

I've done dozen of PID tunes in case of whatever the reason but it's still not happy, also it completes PID fine without any extra warnings.

If I heat the bed in 2x stages, 1st set to 40c and then when stable set to 70c - no problems what so ever.

This one is a bit iffy heated bed solution for sure but sure thing after PID it should "familiarise" itself with the thing right?!
(I've retrofitted Up Plus with Duet board, it has 80w super volcano like heater cartridge in the block bellow the bed)

      Thanks a bunch

    • RE: hase anybody converter duet wifi to ethernet?

@jlh WiFi module goes over the through hole pins so problem number one here, technically they are exposed underneath and you could "dead bug" style connect it but I'm sure both modules are sharing pins and that's the problem number two.
Alternatively I've seen those "chip sockets" where you plug in ESP8266MOD chips potentially could make hybrid board of sorts...

Or simply get little WiFi access point which does 2.4GHz and stick it in the metal biscuit jar thing to reduce it's range to one machine pretty much.
