The controller was in 'Laser mode' when I tested it, but there was also an extruder tool config. It's not necessary to have a stepper or thermistor connected, just a virtual config.

You could try this paint, but instead of the method used in the film, thin the paint with paint thinner and spray it with a paint gun on the pcb. aliexpress has complete paintgun sets complete with compressor and tank for 125 US.

I just realised that M453 P3 R255:255 would also solve this by enabling M4; it's the 2nd option on the R parameter that does that.
But.. I've also found with CNC's that the important thing is to come up with a workflow that works, and not get too fussy about the details, that way lies madness.

I have a "three story" Lack table enclosure for an Anycubic Kossel Linear+ running a duet. The board (and power supply) is mounted below the lowest table, outside the enclosure. The duet is mounted vertically, to encourage convective circulation, with no fans.

Has worked great for months (maybe over a year, I just don't remember).
