These Reasons will clearly break the fan Port, but I didnt do this. This is proven as the fan was running fine for several weeks until it breaks without touching.
Whatever I assume with 5v fans this issue will not happen again. Thanks so far!

@gruna-studio i did not. but the firmware on the MKS servo itself is flawed so whether you use a 1XD or any other board to send steps its still a crap system

@jay_s_uk The problem got solved, I had ' if else ' formula in the beginning of the config.g file that wasn't formatted right. I removed it and then the config.g started to work -> endstops got recognized.

The thing was that it didn't say it in any place that there's mistake. But the when loaded with M98 command the error became visible and that helped to solve the problem.

FYI to close the loop for those who have offered help: I contacted Filastruder - they sent me a replacement LDO motor for the Orbiter v1.5. I got to play with it a bit this evening and bench test it - it is working perfectly. Now I can complete the upgrade and actually test it using some plastic.

I also purchased the Duex 5 add-on board so I can replace the burnt driver and add some additional drivers so I can now implement a three stepper Z axis.

@handyandy I would go for the Superpinda from Caribou, VonWange or others as the are internally temperature adjusted.

Yes, it needs 5V but you could take that from somewhere else on the board. The inputs seem to tolerate up to 8V and the Z-probe up to 30 V if you have a new enough board.

Also, that one has the connectors you need to just plug it in and go.

So, you don't even have twisted pairs for this connection? (Or said another way, what type cable? I just hate having to tear down my machine to much with cabling, so I try to minimize those excursions 🙂 )

@dc42 I don't believe so.

I did however take this opportunity waiting for a new toolboard to rewire everything to be sure, in that process now.

I'll expect to know more soon but I feel like an idiot not noticing the power loss and I'll wait to have something compelling before I run my mouth again.

Replaying for all that might stumble upon this damned fan to run it on Duet;
It was the PWM frequency.
Mechatronics B5015E24B-BSR 24V 5015 fan needs low frequency to run/barely spin at 40% and then go up to 100%.

I didn't do huge testing and for now I use
M950 F0 C"fan0" Q65 L0.4

I've set minimum fan speed to 40% (L0.4) so it's spinning even if I mess the slicer settings and set it lower 😉

@exerqtor Did my own take on the cooling, wanted to keep it as low profile as possible, never had any issues with MCU temp so i didn't see a need for cooling that. Waiting for the 4020 fan to arrive so i can test it 🙄

Here's an example of one that I have:

Please note that the standard pwm frequence of four wire fans is 25kHz.

I can't say that Noctua isn't doing their own thing here but this is the way you normally configure four wire fans AFAIK.
