Hemera goes wild! heat and no moving...

Well the problem as described would indicate that one of the motor phase wires isn't making a good connection at some point. If the same wiring works on one motor, but not the other, then it's most likely at the motor plug. Lucky it hasn't damaged the driver. Replace that motor.
-
ok.... so do you really think that the motor isn´t working correct?
tomorrow I´ll get a new E3D Hemera. Should I connect the new one to test it?
thanks!! -
Well if you think the wiring is good and it does work with another motor, then the motor plug pin may not be up to spec. I may want to try with new wiring just to test the motor for sure.
-
use a multimeter and measure the phases. see if each phase has the same resistance
-
@Phaedrux
OK... I´ll connect the new motor tomorrow. -
@Veti
resistance is fine.Thanks
-
have you tried a different cable?
-
When using a motor with a plug on the body and a separate cable, you MUST confirm the phases with a multimeter or by other means, because the pinout of the connector is not standardised. Although if the cable was supplied by E3D as part of the Hemera kit, it ought to match.

I found the hemera wiring to be different from my stock motor. I had to swap pins 3&4 when using the hemera.
here is my wiring table i used with the duet:

yes... 6 different cables which are working perfect since 2 months. Also with shaking the cables it´s working with normal nema 17 but not with the hemera. Try to replace the hemera today!
thanks -
@mitch
ah ok!!!! I´ll try it directly!
thanks -
@mitch
switching 3+4 pin was not helpful..Also interesting is, that the sound doen´t stop anymore. I must turn off the machine. otherwise the sound of hemera doesn´t stop
Thanks

@dc42
I´m workig with this plugs since months and it works with the E3D slimlime motor. So I think the plug is ok... -
@barbarossa-cologne have you tested the phases yet?! Blindly changing the pins isn’t going to work, and may damage the Duet and/or the motor. Disconnect the motor cable from the Duet and check!

@droftarts
Couldn´t test it because I don´t have a multimeter.
I don´t understand that I can´t read how to wire the motor exactly. Only @mitch had the information about switching the 3+4 pin...
E3D needs the same good support like Duet does it...And at this moment, I don´t know if the motor is already not working anymore.
-
@barbarossa-cologne said in Hemera goes wild! heat and no moving...:
Couldn´t test it because I don´t have a multimeter.
how did you measure the resistance that you said you did?
-
@Veti
A friend came to my house with a multimeter. -
https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Document/GdYIUZMlaEoWbQhU/Hemera-Datasheet-(Edition-2).pdf
page 6 has the motor wiring.
but if your say that each phase had the correct resistance then the motor is fine and not broken.
