Toolboard + NO NPN probe
-
@tecno https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/RepRapFirmware/CAN_limitations
only P8 and P9 can be used on CAN boards -
Doh... too many variables so confusing it is.
How can i check port that it is working? Short GND to INP or 5V?
Set it as P8 so I can see Probe value 0 or 1000
-
@tecno said in Toolboard + NO NPN probe:
Vin non triggered = out Vin
Do I understand this right: The signal has 6-30V non-triggered?
-
Yes
-
-
That is what I suspect, not the first toolboard to go south on me.

Yes, you can short GND to INP. Does this trigger the endstop?

not shorted = value is 0
shorted = value is 1000So go figure what is wrong, I only have 1N4148 diode's at hand no BAT´s
-
@tecno said in Toolboard + NO NPN probe:
not shorted = value is 0
shorted = value is 1000That's good news, the board still works. Your test means that the probe doesn't pull down the signal strong enough to trigger. Try the diode - according to the documentation, this might work:
The diode should preferably be a small-signal Schottky diode such as BAT43 or BAT85, but a small signal silicon diode such as 1N4148 works for some people.
-
Already tried the diod = no go
-
@tecno Hm, I'm guessing, but maybe a pull-down resistor between GND and INP might help. Can't tell you a value, though, but I would start with something like 10k - and go down until the probe triggers reliably.
-
I syrongly sugest using NC probe
; Z-Probe M671 X-31.39:250:531.36 Y-18:433.3:-18 S10 ; Locations left, center, right M558 P8 C"121.io2.in" H3 F1000 T6000 A20 S0.005 ; PINDA set Z probe type to switch and the dive height + speeds
This is for my superpinda with duet 3 and toolboard
-
I found one PNP that I now have tried = same issue.
Found other with better sense distance that I prefere.
How do I connect this one, if possible the 2 wire Vin + io0 in ?
-
@tecno if shorting input to ground changes the Z probe reading from 0 to 1000 then an NPN output probe connected correctly should work. You do not need to use a diode.
Are you sure it is NPN output?
Are you sure you have connected it correctly?
Does it have a LED on it to indicate when it is triggered?
-
@dc42
Label says NPN NOstd coloring on wires BN to +, BK out and BU to -. Load BK to BN so it should be NPN right?
Vin to BN
GND on 121.io0 to BU
BK to 121.io0 inputYes LED indicates Trig
Tried without and with 1N4148 Diode, Inverted - Non inverted - Pull up no pullup
-
Now I have yet another probe = IFS208 and now it works.
Suspect these bloody mini crimp connectors again = they are not up to par what is needed for a good connector.
So a Toolboard V2 with new bigger common crimp connectors PLEASE. I see no need to scale down this board to be hard to work with. I suggested earlier that toolboard to be delivered with pre crimped pigtails.
All in all it is too wimpy with the assembly with board connector housing not properly seated. -
probe = IFS208 = Too long so it does not fit.
-
Back to the NPN NO probe, now it works.
M558 C"!121.io0.in" P8 H10 F120 T8000So bad crimp was the issue.
