BLTouch stuck at 1000
-
@nurgelrot interesting, ill give it a try and let you know? I have been trying to turn the printer on and off, unplugged and replugged the bltouch wires, etc. etc., i didnt realize there was an actual function to just reset the bltouch
-
@messiahman Post your configs when you get a chance if its failing that much something isn't right.
-
@nurgelrot thats the thing though, like i said it was working fine last night and i havent since changed anything, its like the probe just decided “today’s not the day” lol
-
@messiahman Cosmic rays... BLtouch are touchy. I had one just go nuts once too would always error out on a G29 ended up just replacing it cuz I never did figure out what was the issue and the config had worked for long time (and still does with the new one). But don't get too drastic yet. fiddle with the pin etc... see if you can see when/why it thinks its deployed. move your signal wires away from steppers etc...
-
@nurgelrot Sometimes is the grub screw. The screw has to be at a exact distance. See the manual for it
-
Is the BLTouch well clear of the bed when you power on?
If the probe touches the bed when it tries to do its self-test, it will fail.
-
@rjenkinsgb yeah no the entire extruder head is nearly to the top of the print area cuz my last print ended off pretty high up
-
@messiahman if the reading is 1000 when the pin is extended, most likely there is a break in the signal connection. On a genuine BLTouch this is usually the white wire.
-
@dc42 I've checked all the wires, theyre all pretty strong connections
-
Use a multimeter to test continuity of the wires themselves.
-
@messiahman you can test the Duet and your configuration by disconnecting the white wire and connecting that input on the Duet to ground. That should make the reading go to 0.
-
@dc42 that didn't work
-
@messiahman please post your config.g file and post a photo of the wiring connecting the BLTouch to the Duet.
-
@dc42 will do, but i did just unplug the whole bltouch to try and dispel any charge in the capacitor and replugged it all in, and now it won't deploy or retract.

Does it light up at all? The plug at the BLTouch end is very delicate.
-
@phaedrux the red light comes on yes, but not the blue. it also goes through the startup sequence
-
Could you also post the contents of "deployprobe.g" and "retractprobe.g" please? There is a chance that's the source of your problem.
-
The reason why I am asking is this:
When you are issuing either M401 or M402 your BL's pin should move down or retract. If it does not, then either these files are missing altogether or they are referring to the wrong servo pin number.
M950 S0 C"exp.heater3"
The contents of deployprobe.g should look like this based upon your config.g (P0 = S0 = pin number):
M280 P0 S10
And second your retractprobe.g would be:
M280 P0 S90
Issue single M401 and M402 to see if your BL responds.
-
@wieman01 I haven't changed them since i first got them working, but sure, let me pull them up
M280 P0 S10 I1; deploy BLTouch
M280 P0 S90 I1; retract BLTouch

I1
Remove those as they aren't used in RRF3 to invert. That's done in the pin definition now. Though it won't stop it from working.
I think you have a cabling issue. Can you show a photo of where the wires are plugged in both at the board and the probe? Can you test connecting the probe directly to the board with it's short pig tail wires to remove your extension wires from the equation?
