@psyblue the main change between bootloader 2.2 and 2.3 is that in 2.2 if it didn't get a satisfactory frequency reading within a certain time, its reset the processor to start again. In 2.3 it just keeps on taking readings, in effect allowing the crystal oscillator as long as it needs to stabilise.

there is a beta of 3.3 that allows you to do tuning on the toolboard

Same issue with "lost network connection" and Duet3 6HC here...

you could try assigning each of the z mother additional axis. to U, V, W, A and setting the P value so they are visible

then you can manually control them as well.

big but, it might be better if you convert one axis to just a support axis as 4 point bed levelling is problematic. see https://drmrehorst.blogspot.com/2017/07/3-point-print-bed-leveling-vs-4-point.html

@psyblue, thanks for sharing that. I did some 5V short-circuit tests on a V0.6 Duet 3 and found that L4 overheated and started smoking fairly quickly. I did this several times, but for no more than about a minute at any time. No components failed.

The problem was that the actual internal current limit of U10 turned out to be much higher than its rated output current. As a result of these tests, we added a 3A PTC fuse feeding 5V_EXT on the latest Duet 3 revision, and increased the rating of L4.

I am still surprised that U10 failed on your board, and I suspect that the flyback diode may have failed first.

A bit late (my reply), but I encountered the same problem with my volcano (0.8mm nozzle, direct all metal, 2.85mm filament) and it helps, if you have a 50W thermistor and a silicone around the heating block. I had to turn the part cooling fan down to 35-40%, then when the fan kicked in, it did not throw the temp off that much. I gradually raised the fan speed afterwards.
