@lee7670 I am closing this due to lack of response. Feel free to open it again if you determine that it is still a problem after upgrading to RRF 3.4.0rc2 or later.

@lee7670 Id really like this too. Im having trouble trying to see what is causing my printer to throw a heater fault since its only happening every 20+ hours of operation so the data on the temperature graph is lost.

You should be able to send the commands at any time and they should take effect without a reboot.

What problems are you having with tuning?

@lee7670 said in TMC4671 expansion board:

You can totally, do that, your stepping just changes the position target.

In a test run the Due was quick enough to answer every step pulse. There is no 'piling up' of steps I could apply a PID algorythm to.
The hardware QDE is capable of reading the encoder pulses at 42MHz. Not sure about the other interrupts, though...
If you like, we can discuss it here

In principle yes, however I will need to do a little work because in some places the axis number is stored in only 4 bits.

The new algorithm is geared for accuracy rather than speed. 1.5 hours may actually be pretty short compared to that on a very large thick bed. Best to just leave it do what it needs to do?

@CaLviNx said in Sensorless Homing on Expansion board:

So you have decided to prioritize an "up-coming" product instead of fixing a known issue on an already released product because you "feel" that manual tuning is perfectly "adequate" ok then.

We can't maintain the volume of the Duet 2 products that our customers want to buy, so we need to offer them an alternative. That's why we've prioritised a new product development over porting the useful but less-than-perfect existing auto tune facility to expansion boards, which is work that would be thrown away when we switch to the new heater tuning algorithm.

I have two Hemera tools on my tool changer, driven by tool boards. I tuned one of them manually, then copied the settings to the other one.

Development of Duet 3 Mini is nearly complete, so I am starting to get back to other work, in particular RRF bug fixes and the 3.2beta1 release.
