When and where was it purchased?
A few weeks ago via James
Sorry, I'm not familiar with James. Is that from a Duet reseller?

@tecno Please send an email to warranty@duet3d.com. Include a link to this forum thread and the details of your original purchase. You'll receive a reply with a form to fill out. It's possible there is a sensitivity issue with the Smart effector, swapping it will rule that out.

That sound is terrible...and beside lowering the sensivity of the smart effector i would say...get some new Linear bearings...just from that sound ever time it changes direction it could be vibrating bearings that affect the smart effector -
@barracuda72
The Overlord printers sound like that from new; the linear guides are pretty good as long as you keep them lubricated, twin rods with long bronze sleeve bushes.I've always thought the noise was due to a lack of or primitive microstepping in the control board & motor drivers, plus the long guide rod design means there can be some lateral resonances.
(The machines were launched on Kickstarter in late 2012 or early 2013, if I remember right, so the electronics are fairly primitive compared to a Duet). -
Time for an update
Awaiting new carbon fibre rods. (the old setup was/is to spongy)
