    • RE: How reliable is the IR bed sensor Vs BLTouch?

I have been working with bl touch sensors for quite a while now and am quite un-happy them, when they work they work fine. The problem is 1 in every 5 probing cycles fail. I need to restart the machine a few times before getting the probing to work accurately again. I have bought 10 bl touch sensors out of which around 6 have this problem. I was using these on the MKS gen 1.4

Looking for new bed leveling sensors, definitely interested if someone can give a comparison or review of the ir sensor

    • What does x256 interpolation mean ?

      Hi all,

I was wondering what the term interpolated to x256 meant when configuring my stepper drivers.

I am using x16 microstepping. I curious to know what the effects of this are.

Is it equivalent to x256 microstepping ? .

If interpolation is on will it draw more current for motors, or will there be any torque reduction due to this ?

      Thanks
      Hussain

      Thanks for the reply,

Does the duet support any other touch screen apart from the panel due.

Or is the UI on panel due modifiable ?

      Regards,
      Hussain

    • Support for MKS mini 12864 LCD panel

      Hi all,

Would like to know if the duet wifi supports the MKS mini LCD panel or any other LCD panel like Full graphics controller, etc.

Its just a economical option, and has front sd card loading which I find more convenient.

      Thanks
      Hussain.

    • RE: Elimination of ripples

I feel it has definitely improved by a large extent, will try calibrating e steps again.

It was mentioned somewhere that e-steps need to be whole numbers and not fractions, is that true ?

    • Elimination of ripples

I have built a custom machine that had ripples on the surface using an MKS gen 1.4 board, Once I changed the board to Duet It was eliminated.

Wondering what the reason could be ?

@agniusm Thanks I had the rippling on my MKS board , when I changed to duet it got eliminated.

Any Idea what the reason behind this could be ?

      @dc42 will do,

Shouldn't the files uploaded from the web browser show under the print tab ? Irrespective of whether the panuel due SD card is connected ?

    • RE: Starting a print from Panel Due

      Hi,

I attached both the 4 pin cable as well as the 10 pin ribbon cable, The uploaded files should show at the print screen right ??, but it does not seem to be showing up there.

Additional I put in a separate SD card into the Panel due and I am unable to access the files there as well.

I have yet changed any config files or attached any hardware to the board yet.

Just wanted to know if this is normal.

      Regards,
      Hussain.

    • Starting a print from Panel Due

Just received my duet wifi 2 and panel due.

I uploaded a Gcode file from my web browser and tried accessing the same from the Panel due screen,

It does not seem to show. Also I tried inserting a micro sd card with gcode files on it but the screen shows that no sd card is available.

I have not attached any components to the board yet, just wanted to test it out the panel due before starting the build.

Also is there any way to model the UI for the paneldue

      Thanks!,
      Hussain.

      @deckingman

Do you think making the frames heavier can reduce the vibrations that are seen on the frames ?

Industrial machines use cast iron base for their machinery to keep it rigid. Will this work on a 3d printer as well.

      Thanks

    • RE: Multiple Z motor wiring

      Hi ,

      Thanks for your reply.

Do you think there is any chance for the drivers to go out of sync and cause a binding issue.

I am assuming that this is the main reason why people use a belt and pulley to run multiple lead screws.

    • Multiple Z motor wiring

      Hi,

I have been planning to build a large 500X500 machine.

For the Z axis I am planning to use 4 nema 17 stepper motors to lift the X Y gantry and keep the Build platform stationary.

Is it a good idea to connect all 4 motors to a single driver by connecting in series

or is it better to use 4 different drivers. ?

The main issue I foresee is that the Z axis lead screws can go out of sync and bind.
I do not want to add belts and pulleys for the Z unless its necessary, also the load I will be carrying is under 4 Kgs

      Any suggestions would be helpful.

      Thanks
      Hussain

    • RE: Trying to understand M584 driver mapping

      @maiki76

If you are using a separate driver on the board then you need to use M584 and use jumpers on the unused motor connection pins

The Z axis driver has two motor ports ( You can connect two motors to the same driver), in case you are doing this then you do not need M584 command
