Im now testing an LDO NEMA 17 motor OverTheMoon LDO-42STH25-1004AC which is a High Temp High Speed pancake motor.

And I think I found the real root cause, aside from not-ideal stepper choices, I was using a Jerk speed of 200 mm/min, which is a value I found online as a recommended "extreme" setting. The default value is 40mm/min. When I dropped this down to 100mm/min and combined with the new light and fast stepper I can now achieve a pretty impressive 400ma current on the Stepper driving the Nimble (and still at high speeds).

The M572 command does not accept multiple S parameters. If you want to set different parameters on different extruders, you must use multiple M572 commands. I have updated the M572 documentation to clarify this.

@bearer - Well yeah maybe, but that's also the reason for asking, the Smart Effector's central probing angle would make it much less likely to suffer effector tilt. Like.. people with dual nozzles still need to probe their beds one way or another. 🙂

This only matters when probing anyhow, "triggering" when printing wont do anything.

      To add:

stripped the Whambam bed off, back to bare clean aluminium plate. added 3 more bolt down washers to snag the aluminium plate into the frame even tighter
Got the deviation in Auto Cal down to "0.043" but...

Literally none of these changes make any actual difference. The same problem positions (rear left vs front right of bed) occur all the time? What else am I missing?

      @dc42
Im using an E3D Chimera, which is 2 individual tools. But thats beside the point as the problem here is the implementation of the tool change files and incompatibility with a Delta based printer workflow.

I already replied illustrating with the showstopper when trying to use the tool change files:

when (not during print) selecting tools to manually pre-heat (or load filament etc) it applies whats in the tool change files, which is super annoying if you put in Extrude/Retract steps as it just does them when stationary, at the wrong temps and messed things up. it also tries to move of course if you have a move to XY command, again when you dont want it to do that, when selecting manually and this leads to (sensing the loop here?): even more contradictory, if you have a move command in those files, and they get invoked when at home, it will still generate the error ""G1/G0: target position not reachable.." and then zero the temps you were trying to set!

The tool change files are non-functional as a solution on a delta printer as it will always be outside the limit when in the Z-max part position (ie home, before a print).

The elegant way of doing this was with Toolchange scripts in S3D, but for reasons that have not been answered, when starting Gcode with these scripts in it, it errors out Immediately as is if its trying to invoke the command from the home position, not actually when it needs to do so.

As noted, a way of just suppressing/removing this safety feature would mitigate this.

Being experimenting with getting good prints with dual nozzles on the Rostock Max with FSR bed. Its not easy, as people found out!

      What Ive found so far:

Getting both Nozzles even with each other

Eyeball level for both nozzles, heat up, loosen heat break worm screens so one side can move, lower to near zero then use 0.05mm steps to lower further onto sheet of paper. You will be able to see then if one side snags the paper more than the other. Without using the paper but running the nozzles slow into bed (with one side loosened) I still wasnt getting them even.

FSR bed auto calibration with dual nozzles
It does "work" in a manner and gives ok results, but Ive just tried drilling into the E3D Chimera heatblock (heatsink) and tapping in an M3 screw thats 3mm longer and lower than the nozzles. I put this screw / tap directly between the nozzles.
With the screw in place (and tweaks to dive height and correctedd X position of Zprobe) Ive got really consistent bed leveling results.

Only problem is of course putting the screw on and off for testing and the Z height gets messed up, I need to tell S3D to offset Z height by -4.75mm to correct actual printing. Im sure Im doing something stupid here as I didnt think the old Kossel Allen key zprobe method had this problem.

The nominal PWM frequency of the DueX fan outputs is 488Hz. Other choices would be possible with a firmware modification, but all outputs would be the same frequency. The possible frequencies are 7.81kHz divided by 2^N where N = 0 to 6.

I'm sorry to hear that you list your SD card contents.

You can back up the contents of the system folder to a downloaded zip file in DWC.

Hello, new use here in the forums. I'm the author of the Filaswitch tool and pondering about how to fix this temperature problem. I've previously had a Marlin based board and with it, tool change after M104-command doesn't force the temperature to change to something that was set for that tool. So Marlin seems to behave differently in this regard.

In Filaswitch the temperature change is initiated before the actual tool change, just to make sure that nozzle is closer to correct temperature before new filament is fed to the nozzle. So for example we have active tool T0 (210C) and we are going to be switching to T1 (220C). The sequence would be:
      T0
      .
      .
      .
      M104 S220 T0
      (filament long retract g-code...)
      T1
      (filament long feed g-code...)

If I understand correctly, in Duet the tool change will result in the temperature being changed to whatever T1 is set to be.
So perhaps the fix would be:
      T0
      .
      .
      .
      M104 S220 T0
      M104 S220 T1
      (filament long retract g-code...)
      T1
      (filament long feed g-code...)
      .
      .
      .
      M104 S210 T0
      M104 S210 T1
      (filament long retract g-code...)
      T0
      (filament long feed g-code...)

Support for G10 is a possibility, but will need more time as I need to understand all the changes the new command entails.

I'm guessing that those figures reported by DWC are the M208 defaults, in which case they are not relevant to delta printers except for Z min. I've made a note to look into this.
