we now have everything working, but no power to steppers. can I send my board back for you to test please.

X/Y/Z Steppers won't move until the printer thinks it is "homed". Try a G28 (home) instead of G1 (move). See if the steppers run.

Extruder stepper won't move unless hot end is hot.

Perhaps he's referring to the one he was talking bout here:
      https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/5942/someone-help

There was advise given in that thread, but I haven't read through it all.

Edit: Oh. There's not much to read, and no followup on what he has or has not tried.

@Mikesplane Please provide some information which might get you started. You were offered some advise in your ole thread that we have no idea what you have and have not done.

      A Former User?

      @danal said in Someone help:

Very unlikely that you need a new controller. Unless you've burned something up physically. Other than that, no amount of mistaken configuration hurts anything.

      .

Having said that, Mike, I am going to be very direct and harsh: The rest of you post comes across as a very whiny way to ask someone to "do your work" for you. And hobby work at that. So, speaking for me: No way. While I speak only for me, I predict you will get very little response, for these exact reasons.

Another reason you'll get very little response from the way you've phrased things: Your title "Someone Help" contains no information. A much better title would be "Seeking someone to help with initial setup" or similar.

Furthermore, you don't say what kind of printer, you don't say what you have tried or not tried, what is working or isn't. Again, the theme is that your post is missing any information that would actually allow someone to help you (were they so inclined). You don't even say which model of the Duet you have.

Perhaps you could post again, and say what kind of printer, what kind of controller (Duet? Which version?), and post your existing configuration.h file.

      .

And, again, being direct: The duet is one of the easiest to configure controllers, with some of the best documentation, in existence.

If you are finding the Duet difficult or beyond your ability/patience/frustration level, perhaps it would be best to spend the money to get a printer that "just works out of the box". They cost a lot more, but they do not require any configuration. An example would be a Makerbot.

      Wise words indeed....................

What program are you using to communicate with the Duet? I don't recognise those responses.

      Check out:

      https://duet3d.com/wiki/Choosing_stepper_motors

The stepper motors used are always well below the VIN voltage 1.4V is fine. The stepper drivers limit the the current flowing through the motors.

I have the Duet underneath my Kossel with the wifi antenna protruding slightly. If the wifi signal is reasonably strong in the room where the printer will be, then it should be OK to put the Duet underneath the bed, assuming it is not surrounded by a solid metal frame. There is no easy way of extending the antenna, and FCC/CE regulations make it impractical for us to offer a version with an external antenna.
