Not necessarily, when I tested shorting a fan using 24V power the mosfet fused before the fuse did.

Here are some possibilities:

Servo (orange) wire of the bltouch not connected to the correct pin on the Duet, or a bad crimp connection in that cable. See https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_a_Z_probe#Section_BLTouch for how it should be connected.

Heater 3 hasn't been disabled. Send M307 H3 and it should report "Heater 3 is disabled".

Using P9 in the M558 command, but you are using firmware earlier than 1.21 so type 9 is not supported. Send M558 and check that is reports type 9.

Two ways:

Modify the firmware, changing it to set variable numSmartDrivers to 7 even when no DueX board is detected; or

Add a SX1509B chip to your add-on board wired with the same address select and fixed input that the DueX2 has. The firmware checks for the presence of the SX1509B and reads from it to determine what expansion board is present.

@dc42 i’m sorry, but in that case the duet is not a good option for my printer. I can achieve more functionallity with an rpi 3 and 2 cheap dumb boards with klipper, which will be cheaper too. I can add hundreds of seperate mcu’s in that case, so that’s what i’m going for. you make a really great board, but i’m afraid it’s not suited for my project.

As I power the Heatbed over a mosfet (to protect the duet from to much current), I think answer 1 is the problem. I hope with the second PSU this will solve the problem, but I will tell you as soon as it arrives 🙂

The devices connected to the endstop inputs need to sink about 1mA of current with a voltage drop no greater than about 1V.

Ok, so just to update, I went from having tons of noise and heater faults to the signal looking smooth by using the 4 wire hook up with twisted leads. It is super easy to setup. I bought the wire already twisted (link below) and soldered the pair to each end of the PT100. Now with the FAN back at the normal frequency I see zero ripple in the measured temp.

Be aware that CATx cable that comes on spools to go in walls is solid, and will break if repetitively flexed.

CATx cable in patch cords SHOULD be stranded... it is worth checking. It is also possible to get stranded on big spools... just check very, very, very carefully, that that's what it really is.

Use the E1 endstop input for one of them. For the other, use the Z endstop input if it is free, or the Z probe input.

Yes you can. basically the mosfets switch the ground side of the circuit so you can provide 12V power directly to the heater cartidge and then have only the Gnd connected :
