@leckietech do you have enough conductors to put a ground on each side of the PT100/PT1000 wiring? It will help hugely on the noise floor.

@leckietech the default mode in 3.3 and earlier is stealthChop at very low speeds switching to spreadCycle at higher speeds. in RRF 3.4 the default mode is spreadCycle.

If the spurious short-to-ground reports are a side-effect of running in stealthChop mode, then using spreadCycle instead should avoid them.

      @leckietech

How many more are you planning on adding? You could use the daughterboard expansions to add up to 4 more PT100/k type thermocouples and should be a lot easier than creating the network you’re describing.

@phaedrux haha. wise guy! Its not that I need to leave them unattended while tuning or that it is hard the way it is. We have a warehouse with racks full of printers... Everyday we are repairing 5 or more printers and when there are quite a few on the bench being serviced, it would be nice to have a tone to know when the tune is done so it can go back on the rack and get making us money! Id like to think paying an employee to needlessly stare at a screen waiting 20 minutes for the tune to complete is just not necessary. Also to access the results from the 12864 screen to press ok which sends M500 rather than trying to remember what window that printer was on with the desktop would be helpful. Heaven forbid you start sending commands to the wrong printer and wreck a print!

@phaedrux Ha, it works. Cant wait to apply this at work tomorrow. What I am using it for: we have 4k nest cameras on each rack of 12 printers. In the middle of the night if I need to check on them the room is too dark so Ive got a wifi switch that ill connect a 12v supply to and trigger a micro relay at the duet board closing this contact thus turning on the lights of each printer for any given rack. I wish we could just connect the printers together with CAN BUS and send global messages to do things like this or tell all 60 of my current duet printers to preheat, or send a command over the internet to stop any one print. Ive already got our main supplies wired to a smoke detector to immediately disconnect the power and battery backup at the first sign of smoke. With safety out of the way, now I just need some other features for production. Thanks again for the help!

@engikeneer Good suggestions. We use S3D and print many items with large chamfers or fillets. The bed size is set correctly but without isometric views, a small issue with S3D, small amounts could end off the bed. Especially with the number of printers we run here we slice 200 files a day most days. Just trying to prevent a bird's nest.

@fcwilt I have "Retract during wipe" turned on. Using a post-processor script to convert the M101 and M102 commands to G110 and G111 works, but ignores retractions during a wipe. At the first sign of a negative E value, I need to call G110 once in the previous line.

      Good morning,

Since I have seen this post, I would like to add my idea that I have had for a long time.

It would be to add a M291 S4 message that would give the option of "Yes" or "No" and on the other hand that you could add for example a C parameter, for example C "global.reply" and that this would make a: set global.reply = ("yes" or "no") or (true or false)

It would also be interesting that "this parameter C" in the formats S2 and S3 with X1 Y1 Z1 would save the value of these in the variable, I do not know if in this particular case, which has been requested to show more than one axis, maybe it should be something like this C"{global.xpos,global.ypos,global.zpos}" or maybe the ideal is to request them separately.

I think these options would open many possibilities to interact with the user.

Let's see what you think of my idea

      Best regards

Sorry if something is not well understood, it is very difficult for me to write in English.

@engikeneer said in Adding additional points to bed mesh?:

@leckietech think it needs to be a complete grid to work... however, you can just edit it in Excel. That way you can manually measure the points of interest, then just linearly interpolate the others and get a much more detailed map in half the time 🙂
I've done this before to edit out a couple of dodgy probe points from my mesh

yes, I am aware! I have a batch of bed spring steel bed plates that has some random bumps id like to target in addition to the grid. I don't think it is possible, however. I can only add more points which makes it very cumbersome for machines that don't have a probe.

@o_lampe I think I can do it with some external triggers, maybe an arduino too just to handle the logic, yes. It would just be so much nicer to do it with the onboard can.
