@engikeneer I believe this is fixed in 3.5.0-rc.1.

@T3P3Tony Thanks! Yeah, I think I've been coming to that conclusion too. Might also go for the height adjustable pebble wiper in case I modify my tools in the future. Somehow I feel this is gonna be more than a Saturday afternoon tinker...

@dc42 Much appreciated once again! 2220 would fit in the space but wouldn't be a pretty soldering job with how the pads are laid out. I've opted for some through-hole 10uF 50V ceramic ones to try first and will see how I go.

@deckingman silly me forgot your beast! Thanks Ian 🙂

No worries. After battling firmware limitations with expansion boards (some documented and others not) for around 2 years, you were wise to check. Things are much better now than they used to be.

@dc42 fair point, and I guess the proper answer is to get the wire lengths right and use strain relief next time! 😛

@DIY-O-Sphere thanks for checking for me!

@dc42 thanks for clarifying. I think I'll stick with two D3Minis in that case. I'm planning triple z, x and y on the main board, then the coupler and a cyclops as bowden from the expansion, with the other tools as toolboards. Keeps room for expansion for a height adjustable nozzle wiper or something else in the future if I go D3Mini and I'm not sure if I'll need the higher currents of the 3HC.

Will have to think how best to setup the PS_ON macro and main config.g but all sounds doable 🙂

@Phaedrux I'm thinking of doing 3Z similar to your setup but driven by 3 motors since I can use spare extruder motor on duet 2 for third motor. But as you mention the bed does not go out of level so often hence not really motivated to mess with it for now just for autoleveling 🙂

Your photos show an extrusion very close to the side of the sensor. I am wondering whether a reflection from that might be interfering with the sensor reading. If that's the case, probing a little further away from that extrusion or putting matt black tape over it might have helped.

That said, a properly working BLTouch is likely to give similar or better results that are not affected by the transparency of the bed surface.

@diamondback updating a main board used as an expansion board over CAN is the last major piece of work to be completed. The code is written but not yet working.

@JoergS5 According to this calculation: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Choosing_an_extruder_drive, I have ~7.7N of extrusion force at rated current so a bit lower than the minimum target of 10N. I knew this before I upgraded, and to be honest so far it hasn't been a major restriction, I'm just aware I'm hitting a limit I didn't before.
Thanks for the tip on the Duet 3 docs - I'll get reading! My cables are currently a 1m lead that came with the motor, then duponts to a 20cm lead to the Duet. Agree it's not ideal - I plan on replacing with a single lead with a bit more copper at some point, I just need to get better at JST crimps.... I have some old shorter motor cables hanging around somewhere so might try them as a tester to see the impact

@dc42 thanks the input - I think you've corrected me about the microstepping on another post before so I really should pay more attention 😛 For now I'll bump up the currents and see how we go with a few longer prints.
