Yes, is not essential. i didn't realize that you were going on in the other thread and that it is more related to the FW.
With RRF3 I have gotten into the habit of not doing beta FW updates......unless they are absolutely necessary.

If the slicer doesn't provide a layer count DWC calculates the layers from the total height and layer changes, which can get confused by the shorter layer heights.

I've just finished rebuilding the hot end on to the older smart effector board that came with the Kossel frame.

I've used the exact same parts as I did on the brand new V3 one.
These are the results of the first test G30 S-1 probes, with default sensitivity:

I'd check the drag-chain if it causes the BLTouch mount bending/tilting.

It uses the E3D spring trip arrangements to hold the cables as upright loops, so any "pull " is consistently towards the front centre.

Nothing was moving much or retaining any offset when I was deliberately trying to create head<>rail movements & the BLTouch is attached directly and rigidly to the underside of the printed cap I had the dial gauge on.

I'll do more measurements and gauge tests when I get chance.

I'll also try running heightmap with a tool on the head - the Hemera Direct tools are quite heavy and should produce a change if anything is loose anywhere.

@chrishamm is planning to change this to allow the same filament type to be loaded in multiple extruders.

I too, have the Tronxy X5SA Pro 330 x 330 x 400 and purchased a Deut3 6HC over a year ago with a similar project in mind, albeit I was looking to make a manual quick release tool changer, with tool boards mounted with the extruders.
I've not used my printer in over a year, due to moving house and trying to get things sorted within the house before I distracted myself with recommissioning my printer.

I have no previous experience with any Duet boards, so in-doing something similar to your Frakentron is going to be quite a challenge.

Did you have any major problems to overcome with setting the Duet up on the Tronxy?

One thing I had previously looked at (before moving house), was the BLV project, where I liked the fact of the open front. I was contemplating rotating the frame around 180˚ (like you've done), but replacing the the 2 front upright 2020 for 4040, along with replacing the Y rails with 4040 and mgn rails.
When I saw your Frankentron, I was quite surprised you'd not consider the same.

Out of curiosity, what did it cost to get the Carriage plate cnc'd?
I might just copy your main outline and roller mountings from you and add my own fixing and fixtures when I know exactly how I'll be mounting my extruders (Hemera & MicroSwiss).

Do you know if there a rough limit on the length of cable from the duet to the steppers? I've placed my printer in a built-in cupboard that I've soundproofed, so i does get quite warm in there. I'm considering placing the controls outside of this cupboard about 1.5 to 2m away?

I think my main issue will be finding all the correct information about the Tronxy to transfer over to the Duet. I'm on a mac so I have to use repetier to find things like current esteps, but even that's not playing ball at the moment, so having to do it with the ‘sd card way’ is now pushing me to make the move over.

I'd be grateful for any advice you may have.

I've now started again with a new install of the Pi SD card, after flashing the main board and tool board back to V3.3

I put all the config files back on, expecting it to work as it did before I tried the beta versions - but the tool problem is still present!

It's apparently nothing to do with the 3.4 betas.

The only other things I updated whilst installing the beta version originally were the Paneldue 7i and the toolboard bootloader???

Any ideas?

The T-1 is presumably supposed to be what causes the system to return any existing tool before picking up the new one??

However you are spot on correct, the toolchange system works perfectly if that line is removed / commented out!

It was in the E3D toolchanger template files I found, and it worked fine with those files, just changed tool positions, when I first set up the Duet on V3.3, so I have no idea at all why it messes things up now? That was the really confusing thing.

Oh well, I can start recalibrating everything now and hopefully get it printing.
