      @dc42 thanks for your answer. as i am using an official rpi psu a ground loop should not be an issue and my rpi should not be in danger.

      still kind of concerned.

      I just took apart my first blv printer because I was noticing the same thing and it turned out it was no longer square. I would check the frame by measuring on diagonals....front right to left rear and front left to right rear. See if they are identical. If not then it's time for a tear-down.

      @bearer going to to it this way and hoping the next rpi will survive for longer than 4 months - otherwise i think it would be best to go without an rpi - lost functionality but no rpi.

      sorry for any inconvenience ..

      @spllg said in microstepping with interpolation:

      'wild moving' in x- or y-direction.

      reduced travel speed to 120 mm/sec which seems to have eliminated 'wild movings'.

      @dc42 <All generation 2 Duets survive shorting thermistor inputs to Vin, except some Duet WiFi v1.0 boards and the white Duet WiFi prototypes. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyWolKFzb-A.

      Duet 3 boards have these and additional protection measures, which I hope to demonstrate in another video soon.<

      did you do the same tests using a duet 3 with an attached rpi? did the rpi survive?

      @bearer I was just trying to point out that is something needed for some scenario, in any way, even if we are in our own private network. There is no need to "reinvent the wheel".

      @spllg I'm glad it worked.

      Hopefully someone can solve your ATX control question.

      I'd also like to see that answer because I find my solution (adding M80 to config.g) inelegant. And sometimes want to start my machine with the power supply off but still have the control available on the screen.

      A Former User?

      they exist to be able to control the who powers who and to avoid having two supplies working in parallell which doesn't always end well. and its more flexible when you have options.

      be mindfull of how much 5v and 3.3v power you draw, and the wire gauge of the usb cable, you could risk brown outs if the wires are thin
