@Thalios If it happens again, send M122 after it has skipped steps. This may capture information on the skipping that we can analyse.

@MintyTrebor Sorry for the late reply, I was away!

Running Mac os Ventura 13.1 on multiple different computers.

I have the same issue on 2 different printers (Duet 3 6HC and Duet 3 mini 5+) both running 3.4.5

I'll try a different browser and let you know.

Wow I was approaching this totally the wrong way...

All I have to do, as per your recommandations, is to set in relative mode, and add 100 to Z...

      I was WAYYYYYYY overthinking this...

      Thanks guys

At that flow you're in the region of 28mm3/s - assuming their 60mm3/s is true for PLA (I'd personally bet its for ABS/ASA) looks like you have plenty of headroom.

To answer your question, try it? Just go faster and see if you get underextrusion, or run into some other limit along the way, and adjust from there.

Even at 0.82 EW you are running a ratio of around 1.4.

I would strongly recommend that you never go below a extrusion width / layer height of 1.6
It will print, but increasing that ratio increases inter-layer bonding strength and hence overall part strength.
2:1 is a great rule of thumb. Really high ratios become a problem for other reasons.

@Thalios said in Problem with Laser filament monitor:

Doesn't work, even with that indirect thing.

      Reading I get:

Duet3D laser filament monitor v2 with switch on pin io3.in, disabled, allow 200% to 3000%, check every 3.0mm, version 2, quality 223, brightness 255, shutter 91, measured min -2% avg 152% max 273% over 466.5mm

I will try with a different rod (I have stainless steel coming which i'll sand to make non shiny)

      But so far, i'm lost...

This is what I was getting with the indirect monitor using MK3 hob and a rigid mount right above my direct drive extruder:

      9/12/2020, 9:03:10 PM M591 D0 Duet3D laser filament monitor v2 with switch on pin e0stop, enabled, allow 200% to 260%, check every 3.0mm, version 2, quality 221, brightness 255, shutter 84, measured min 225% avg 240% max 257% over 13515.3mm

@Thalios yeah I was barking up the wrong tree there... glad you got it sorted.

I actually suffer from a very similar thing (I have a Piezo so like to probe at 130deg so I don't damage the bed). One thing you could try is if your slicer allows you to use built-in placeholders (not sure what the technical term for it is...) in the start Gcode. In IdeaMaker, I have to have:

M104 T0 S130 ; start heating the extruder to 130deg but don't wait M190 S{temperature_heatbed} ; set heatbed temp and wait G28 ; home all axes M109 S{temperature_extruder1}; Set extruder temp and wait

I think some slicers put the heating commands in after the start code rather than before. I usually use PrusaSlicer which does this so don't have to worry about the heating issues. It confused me what I firsttried using IdeaMaker...

You could also set your tool to 'standby mode' and set the standy temperature, then revert back to active? I think that would wait til it hit temperature. Or do the M116 you suggested (if it still thinks it is meant to be set to the print temperature)

Well, sure enough, the green wire was not making connection in the crimp (from factory).

I'm an idiot. I had a wire that was cut (gnd).

      Now getting this:

      Duet3D laser filament monitor v2 on pin io5.in, disabled, allow 40% to 120%, check every 3.0mm, version 2, quality 221, brightness 24, shutter 136, measured min 90% avg 98% max 101% over 3457.5mm

Is that normal for Yellow AMZ3D PLA 1.75mm?

      Yes, that looks good.
