Thanks PanelDue now works! (Ups, so I got the theory upside down, looking on the paneldue-pcb with the pins pointing not towards you but out backwards, I think I got it all wrong from then on, anyway, as long as it works in reality…)

What firmware version is on your Duet and PanelDue?
Is that the SD card in the Duet or PanelDue?

Have you redone a touch calibration?

Do you have a case on the Panel? Is it pressing against the screen?

@droftarts That seems to have sorted it. I would have sworn it worked before but I don't see how the wires would have changed...

@oliof I think it's an operator / config.g writer error.

I mean: wiring wise, what's there to screw up? The box I printed had 1 and 2 next to the holes where the cables go. The cables are keyed, as are the receptors on the board. I don't think I screwed that up (but it's possible).

The problem is me. I've just never done any coding. Duet's documentation is good, but it seems to ignore the amount of coding must do to make the board AND the printer actually do anything.

I say that not with malice, but out of my frustration. And my high blood pressure, which is killing me today.

@tfjield I'm glad you got it working.

@brs the main function of the piezo in PanelDue is to provide feedback when you touch an active field on the panel. As you have observed, it isn't very loud.

It's driven in differential mode by 3.3V signals. There is a 470 ohm series resistor. You could try reducing the value of that resistor but I suspect you still wouldn't get the volume you want.

If you want to hook up an external amplifier, pick off the signal from just one of the pins of the piezo along with ground.

@agk yes that's the correct connector.

Not all PaneDues have the Card Detect signal for the SD card socket. See https://docs.duet3d.com/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Display_PanelDue#card-detect-signal for how to work around this.

What firmware version did you land on?
How many files do you have?
