@bluedust I can’t preview the GCODE right now, but it looks as if ‘Coasting’ is enabled in Cura.

I would recommend toggling the settings visibility in Cura to ‘all’ and searching for ‘Coasting’. Ensure it is disabled.

Coasting is a way in Cura to emulate Pressure Advance and under/over extrusion at layer start/stops - a way to eliminate blobbing.

@jay_s_uk Thanks! Looks like that worked. When the controller on my Prusa 2.5 finally died I swapped over to the Duet Mini 5+. Probably got the z connectors reversed by accident.

@adamfilip I do that on the first pass of my z homing file. I have H10 for the first pass and then H2 for every subsequent pass.

Sorry for the slow reply, but it seems to be working. No "strange" stuff has happened yet. But i haven't gotten any real print time on it yet so i'm not sure if it's actually good or not for the long run.

@kr15_uk - I agree with you about paper being a pretty uniform thickness, but I always had problems with the paper getting mashed at the edge when the nozzle was a bit too close, or having a bit of plastic rub off the nozzle and worrying about the paper getting thicker. I did a lot of baby stepping on my first layers to dial things in. It left me frustrated, but lots of people use the paper method successfully every day. I guess everyone needs to get the feel for their method and once they do, they are good to go. AND I've gotten used to working with the feeler gauges.

@velvia print genrally looks clean to be wet material but it looks like wet material effects to me but if i had to bet its in the slicer my old cura use to do travel moves like richard simmons
usually a partialy wet roll gets better as it runs as the heats help dissapate the filament in que just being close to the heat more than it was off
also if it exrudes just in the air you should see if its wet or not the added backpressure (on the bed)would make it better not worse i usualy would see

Can you share your config.g and the results of M122?

I'm not sure about the CR touch, but on the regular BLTouch you can remove the pin for cleaning. Sometimes stringy bits get stuck to the pin and can cause it to stick.

What you wish to do is already possible as I have shown in the thread you referenced.
I am using that system. My sensor is a simple switch mounted about 400mm from the extruder drive.
I believe the issues I noted with M291 being called inside filament-error.g are fixed in 3.4.1, but I haven't tried it to confirm.

This post might be better in the "Firmware Wishlist" section as an equivalent to the Marlin functionality that does not require macros would no doubt require a new M code.

Another hint: if you normally use mesh bed compensation, disable it (G29 S2) when taking measurements using the input shaping plugin.

The Z axis display is relevant for some machines, for example the E3D tool changer with heavy tools.

I used to use Cura
I seem to remember it trying to add temperatures if you didn't have one on its start code.
I now mainly use superslicer.
I can't recall if it does or not, but as I set a temperature in the slicer it doesn't bother me.
I tend to tweak sliced temps based on the size of the model.
I understand your approach gives you slicer independence if you overcome the slicer interfering.

Ok at this point with the information in the thread - its working now. I just used the values from the referenced config but I spot checked it on my bot - within 1mm so I just stuck with that

@phaedrux i had updated to firmware 3.4.1 and left my jerk at 120 and acceleration at 500
After having trouble removing support with from prints with pressure advance turned off I turned it on and the seams the print were extremely wide.20220630_113558.jpg
After that print took 13 hours I decided to set both jerk and acceleration to 1000 and the seam issue seemed to mostly disappear.
Unfortunately, It didn't seem to have any other effect on the problem.
I tried to further increase jerk and acceleration with no change in the print.
This image has one print with pressure advance off and the other one with it enabled. Both the exact same gcode.

@noen my guess is that the cabling is marginal, or there is an intermittent crimp connection.

I don't use the "stall guard" feature and know only the basics.
