It's a little unusual that it is getting messages to display but also still showing connecting.
When you have your hardware connected please share some more details like the results of sending M122, M98 P"config.g", your entire config.g, and how you have the panel connected, and ensure the baud rate in config.g and the panel match.

Yes that diode should be good for both if it's the right size.

@MrDui , if you want to make changes to the paneldue's firmware and if you are reasonably proficient with programming, I would start with forking the repository on github, setting up the necessary tool chain (compilers, etc), compile/build it and download the binary you generated to paneldue. At this point you will just need to change the sofware the way you like.

checked general settings "Duet Web Control 3.1.1"

Just for the heck of it I wrapped the flat cable in aluminium foil about 6 layers or so and then covered that with some captan tape to avoid disaster then a bulldog clip to clamp the foiled cable to the frame . Measured about 24 ohms from connector end to frame for a shield 22cm long. No change in file behaviour

I can live with the way it is for now . It was nice though to be able to use the card 1, I preferred leaving the system SD card 0 alone as much as possible

If you are certain that the problem isn't caused by a bad crimp connection or something shorting against the back of the display, please request a replacement under warranty.

There are no silly questions, but sometimes there are silly answers! (but not in this thread).

you can't brick the range of duet products that have atsam chips by programming them as the bootloader is in read only memory.

(ir sensor, smart effector and the filament sensors that uses attiny instead of atsam chips are exceptions, where you could in theory mess up programming fuses)

You can program it with an FTDI programmer; there's this comment on the above page:

OK clearly I didn’t pay enough attention to the caution about snapping off the micro USB socket. In any case if you need to flash the board without usb then you can still use an FTDI programmer and wire directly into the tx rx vcc gnd pins on the panelduo connector. The instructions above regarding the Bossa GUI continue to work like a charm, plus you get to look extra geeky for a few mins.

I have been trying the .exe in the bin/debug forlder with the icons I would like to add to my panel but I didnt get the result I wanted to.
Although I didnt manage to get the arrays I needed, this program has helped me understanding how this arrays are structured and I think I will be able to do them by hand.

Check L1 with a multimeter on the lowest resistance setting. It should have a very low resistance.

Check D2 using a multimeter on the diode setting.

BTW we are expecting to have new PanelDue firmware soon, to remove many of the limitations of the existing firmware. The new firmware will only work with RRF3 and it will probably be too large to run on version 1 and 2 PanelDue boards.

SBC and in the meantime I realized that of course the RPI first has to finish the boot sequence. I should use my brain 😅

Work is in progress to address this. The new PanelDue firmware will require RRF 3.1 or later, and it will be too large to run on the older version 1.x and some 2.x PanelDue boards.
