I personally would really like to see sd-support for paneldue getting stronger in RRF3 and duet3!
(Of course I can always rip out the sd-card on the duet-board or attach a usb-cable to it, but that is a bit unelegant if you happen to have a PanelDue with an sd-card-socket. If support for sd-card on PanelDue is decreasing then I ask myself why to put it and pay for it in the first place?)

That does a reset, but differently to the reset button. With the reset button I get the bootup logo, with the M118 command, I do not get the bootup logo.

The firmware checks on startup if it was reset by pressing the hardware button (showing splash screen) or if it was a software reset (not showing splash screen) - sending the above command (or even cleaner M999 A1) will result in a software reset and thus not showing the splash screen.

I think the issue is that the cable is picking up noise, causing data corruption, and the checksum is insufficient to detect some instances of data corruption. It's time to change the checksum to a CRC.

try different usb cables. some ppl had to try 18 different ones until they found one that worked.

You can use the PanelDue SD card socket when the PanelDue is connected to a Duet 3 Mini. It's likely that we will add this facility to the firmware for Duet 3 next year, however the Duet 3 does not have a ribbon cable connector for PanelDue, so the wiring would be complicated.

Indeed when having a closer look at an original PCB, the little mark is an "S", not a "+". I guess I got confused by looking at some pictures in a web search, which showed cloned PCBs.

RRF does not support PanelDue on more than one serial port, although on machines that have two or more serial ports, it could be added.

If one PanelDue was needed for displaying the machine state only (i.e. no commands sent by it) then it could have its DIN line connected on parallel with the other PanelDue, so that it snoops on the data sent to the other one.
