Edit: Slight error. Think the G92 comments were used in the old reprapltd firmware homing routines. Seem to remember a conversation with dc42 about why I had G92 commands in the homing routines when I dusted it off to build parts for the core xy.

I am unsure if the sd card was corrupted when I powered it off but all files showed up as empty and unwritable before I unpowered it so I am not sure exactly what happened.

I didn't write the extension that allows different tools to have different spindles. It looks like S is the spindle number (default 0) and T is the tool number to assign the spindle to, default -1. Only spindles assigned to tools are listed in the M408 response.

There was no need to change your slicer settings when you changed motors. It's best to change only one thing at a time. The fact that files sliced before the change print OK suggest that you accidentally changed something in the slicer, perhaps the speed for printing infill.

That looks exactly like what I would expect align to look like.

I suggest printing one cube with each option to see what each option looks like.

The M584 command to map drives waits for all movement to complete first.

I came from a ramps setup and I too was at the smoothie/duet crossroads at one stage. A few things swayed me towards the duet.

a friend of mine had the duet 1 and I liked the macro ecosystem liked the web interface I seen an exchange on the reprap forum between dc42 and the developer of smoothieware which left a bad taste in my mouth for smoothie. the duet community is helpful and friendly, from an outsider looking in I found what seemed to be a more aggressive community in smoothie support on the fly configuration is the best, so much freedom for your machine

Machine works, however Fusion 360 is still not really suitable for Duet board. I will try to do some configuration on Fusion and if it will work will post here 🙂

No, you need to configure new axes using M584 U, V and W axes

Thanks for the hint.
I have checked with a spare BLTouch (older one with metal pin) and found that something with the cables was not good.
Re-Cabled the signal line (white/black) with a brand new cable et voila, it's working again.

I think I will have to re-do all the cabling to assure functionality....but for now it's working.

When the printer is idle, there should not be a discrepancy. If this is happening in firmware 2.02 or 2.03beta, and you know a way to create a discrepancy, please share it.

Thanks so much- that cracked it, I don’t fully understand how the pid parameters work, so was well out of my depth.
Yes the sensor is above the heater outlet, it’s a modified cubepro from 3d systems, and that’s how they designed it in their wisdom (there’s of plenty of other strange desisions in the design too- lots of well machined hardware with no smart thinking in the design.

When you use M303 to tune a heater, RepRapFirmware creates a model of the heater. It uses this to check that the heater behaves according to the model. If you don't run heater tuning then it uses a default model, which can result in spurious heater faults, or the protection taking longer to detect a heater fault.

No other firmware allows for the particular characteristics of your heaters in its heater protection algorithm.
