It turns out all the info is in my original thread, as it looks like the interface table in the early posts was comprehensive as my adapter board has the neo-pixel connection already. It must have just been that M150 wasn't available on Duet 2 to drive that pin at the time.

@elmoret One has a defective driver. I will look more into if it is improper soldering or bent pins on the other one. I would l like to return the one with driver issues while receiving replacement instead of sending both boards at the same time so that way I minimize downtime of my printer. It is 2 toolboards, you listed 3

@tinchus It is now possible to use a Duet 6HC main board as an expansion board. The term "expansion board" should answer your questions - that is to say, you can use a 6HC in the same way as a 3HC expansion board. But it has to be the last board in the CAN chain and you can't daisy chain multiple 6HCs the way that you can with 3HCs.

@hebigt unfortunately that level shifter is for logic signals only. I suggest you use two resistors, as @T3P3Tony suggested. For example, 2K4 between the sensor output and the Duet input, and 3K3 between the Duet input and ground. These values assume that the sensor is capable of sourcing at least 1mA of current.

Not sure about grounding on the EVA, so probably not. I'll have to look into that.

I've been running without issue on the second thermistor.

I'll try a quick look at the sense resistor the next time I have some spare cycles.

@bewaren the sharp dips suggest to me that you have an intermittent connection in the wiring between the thermistor and the Duet. This is most likely caused by a bad crimp connection at one end of the cable between the Duet and the Smart Effector. But I suggest you also check that the soldering of the 8-way connector on the Smart Effector looks OK, in particular that all the pins have been soldered. That connector is hand-soldered so mistakes are possible. Likewise, check the soldering of the 2-pin temperature sensor connector on the Smart Effector.

Given the amount of time and things that sound like they have changed, it may be best to start a new thread with your issue and give us as much detail as possible.

@rogerpodacter most likely the main board is starting up and sending commands to the tool board before the tool board has finished starting up.

Check that in config.g you have a delay command such as G4 S2 before the first command that refers to board 121 (which is probably your M569 command).

Also use M122 B121 to check which bootloader version the tool board has.

This is very vague. Can you give some more detail?

@dc42 Thanks, that makes it clear. I have no need for that particular SD card slot. I just wasnt clear if there was some other advantage, but i obvioulsy use Wifi for all my Gcode file uploads:)

When using external 5V power there is a diode between the external 5V input and the 5V bus on the Duet. That's why you only see 4.75V on the expansion connector. It should be enough for a BLTouch, but if in doubt you could connect the +5V wire of the BLTouch directly to your 5V external power input.
